Gardens are process and they evolve over time—growing with us, as we grow as gardeners. I often get questions from site users and followers about how I maintain and care for my garden. I’ve been trying to do more videos that share my design process as I evaluate, edit and pursue the ongoing refinement of my garden. I hope you enjoy these “behind-the-scenes” videos. Let me know what else you’re curious about in the comments below and I’ll keep it in mind as I decide what to shoot next.

  1. Do you cut the gravetye beauty back in the spring to the ground? It flowers on new wood only unlike the Jackmanii

  2. The purple clematis is beautiful and I really like the little red one too. I think it all looks great ❤️😊❤️

  3. Oh yes, Gravetye Beauty… I'm so impressed with its green growth this year but is there even one single bloom? No. Nada. It's in a really valuable location but if it doesn't bloom soon I'm afraid it's going to go buh-bye. I've got several other clems that would love that spot. Nice to see I'm not the only one. Fuchsaide 88 is a winner. After several failed attempts (with small plants) I finally got it established last fall and the mild winter really helped it along. I think your front garden is fabulous but I know how we are with our gardens, always fine tuning.

  4. I live in Southern California and have gardened for years and years so I have a lot of knowledge about gardening in zone 10, and my very best friend for years and years, moved to Eugene and is starting to get interested in gardening. (phew that was a long sentence) So I turned to YouTube for gardening videos to learn more about gardening in the PNW. When I found your channel I knew I had hit gold. You possess a wealth of knowledge in plants and design plus you are fun to watch. Thank you for helping me help my dear friend! Btw, I absolutely love your garden. It’s my gardening style. I too have a small garden but I have to have every plant and flower and shrub in my garden too! It’s a constant changing design to make it work. Thanks . Happy gardening

  5. That purple clematis is stunning! Can you tell us how you cared fortrained it to get it to that state? Pruning, fertilizing etc. I planted a clematis in a pot this spring and have lots of foliage but no blooms yet😞

  6. I really appreciate the editing in of plant names and visually highlighting the specific plants that you're speaking of. So helpful for context! Thank you!
