  1. Perfect timing! I’m struggling with getting my snap peas to germinate. I’ve planted 3 times this fall and had 20% germination overall. The peas will not germinate in the same empty spots.

  2. Nothing like a home grown sugar pea! I guess they are snap peas because I eat them as the peas are plumping up in the
pod. If I let them go longer I take the peas out of the pods.

  3. Thank you for the information! No rain today so I'm heading out and tossing some seed in!

  4. LOVE sugar snap and Snow peas fresh from the garden, they are my favorites! I have never really had much luck growing shelling peas. I'm in SW Central Iowa

  5. I love very early pea…. does anyone know when you would prefer to pick them? I've never grown my own but next year I will be trying next year. Any tips would be greatly appreciated 🙏. Thanks 😊

  6. I’ve tried inoculation method, it is expensive and I too did not notice a difference. I also use tomato cages that can open up all sides in a line. I didn’t think to fertilize them as they produce, will do next year! TY

  7. If all those closely planted seeds germinate, do you thin them or leave all to grow? Also, do you pinch them to encourage thicker growth?

  8. When you grow your peas, take a little time …. As you have growing pea pods, you will have longer sprouts and leaves. When the pods are half-grown, pinch off the sprouts and leaves above the pods. This gives all the energy into the pods for growth and sugars. When getting around to harvesting the peas, don't forget to snap off the rest of the non-woody portions of all other sprouts, and the pea leaves. The sprouts and leaves (steamed w garlic and soy sauce) makes a fabulous salad to eat along with your pea pods.

  9. I’ve never had truly fresh peas. I’m really looking forward to a spring harvest. Thanks for the timely tips! 🌺

  10. I tried inoculating bean seeds. I too, noticed no difference. The soil may have benefited in the long run…?

  11. I am going to try peas for the first time this spring. I hope you will give a couple of peeks at different stages so I know if I am on the right track!

  12. Thanks for the needed tips! I tried growing peas this summer. They came out and then died because of the heat. I know better now and will plant early next year!

  13. Can you plant beans and peas together???? Thank you very much in advance for any help🪴💜🥰

  14. I live in Pa., I planted my lima beans and peas in mid August for fall harvest. They have been very slow to mature . The temp. is 70°-50° daytime and 40°-35° in evening. Will they fully mature at these temps???

  15. Ate a couple of snow peas off the vine yesterday. Oh, nitrogen? I will add compost I just harvested and dried prunings of blackberry leaves as mulch. For trellis I'm using branches summer pruned off my peach tree.
    Thank you, Brian.

  16. I have a supermarket bag of dried peas. Do you think I could get those to grow? if so, it would be silly of me to purchase seeds right now when the budget is tight. I want shelling peas, which obviously these are. South Texas zone 9.

  17. This will be my first year growing peas. We love peace, and I can't wait to taste the difference you talked about from home grown peas! Thanks for the tips!!

  18. LOL – Planted them in the summer and first now, getting a very few. No wonder – cold weather crop! 😆
