  1. Hi Art Friends!! YES… I spelled "Backlighting" wrong in my initial intro of this video… LOL. I can't really change it after the video has uploaded. I also had the reference image visible in the video when I created it and I don't know why it disappeared. If you would like to see the ref image while I paint, please click here: (credit pmp-art.com) https://pmp-art.com/thomas-habermann/gallery/261937/beech-tree
I hope you learn lots in this pastel painting tutorial of some gorgeous autumn trees. Please let me know your thoughts and I always love to hear your suggestions to make my channel better. 🙂 Happy Painting!

  2. Im sure I’ve asked this before but do you do portraits as well? I know you lean heavily on landscaping work but I’d love to see a portrait done using pastels. Also do you ever use paint? A mixture of paint and pastels might be interesting.

  3. Wonderful video! Looking for the washable DYI Painting Board video link.
Would you also speak to how to how to select the best colored background papers.? BTW, I love the AS Art Spectrum sanded papers!
    Thank you!

  4. Enjoyed every minute of it…
This type of lighting is my most favorite of all. Probably, like most people, when you think about it, we're in the shade 80% of the time looking out to the light.
My morning hour's are spent looking at all the blue gray reflection from above. Then, in the the evening I enjoy the warmer reflection in shadow. 💜

  5. Your paintings are so beautiful. I only have a set of basic soft pastels. I find them so messy that I get discouraged. I have used alcohol which helped. As I live in a Senior residence, I don't want to use a spray fixative. For the last 2 paintings that I tried, I placed a wet teatowel underneath which helped. Are pastels toxic?

  6. I really enjoyed your process. Your painting is beautiful. You’re very clear all the way through the video.

  7. Hey Susan. Dakota puts the other colors to TL eggplant, on their site. Beautiful painting! Happy Fall Y’all! 👍🙏🏻🍂

  8. Hullo Susan, I have seen so many people use that eggplant color from Terry Ludwig that I wondered if there was a more accessible option? Well Schmincke pastels are available worldwide. and I would suggest 048B quinacridone violet or 050D purple 2 these are very dark and Schmincke are butter soft in most colors! Be sure you look at the letter as that shows the concentration of pigment in the Schmincke line of pastels. I know there are some similar colors in the Sennelier line of pastels but I do not have those colors to refer to.
Thanks for continuing to show wonderful videos here on YouTube. I have to thank those who can support you over on Patreon too! Thanks!

  9. Verybeautiful painting. I am from Italy, can't find Terry ludwig here. Do you know if there is the same colour Eggplant in Sennelier or Rembrandt?

  10. Rode through Tennessee on I-75 last weekend, 10/16/22, as a passenger. Very blessed to observe God's amazing creation in full-peak with every color imaginable! Amazing year. Noticed the dark background behind the leaves, trees, and hills/mountains. Took some images through the windshield. Learned so much watching this wonderful video. Thank you Susan!

  11. I'm behind in my painting. I have so many of your videos saved. God bless all your patreon artist. Your support has helped me throw chemo. Because of your support I have been able to use this channel as art therapy. Sorry about the spelling. Chemo brain.God bless.

  12. I think this is my favourite painting I've seen you do! Thank you! (Would be good to have the reference photo on the screen at the same time). Keeping sharing, thanks for your generosity 🤩
