Protecting Huge Palm Tree From Extreme Cold || Moving Houseplants to The Grow Space || Saturday Vlog

Fingers crossed for the Alexander palm! We will have to wait until spring 2023 to see how it is. I put last year’s video of moving houseplants inside in the end of this video if you want a more detailed version of what goes on. A video on what I’ve done to create the grow room is also linked. I will be doing a tour of the grow room in a few weeks and in it I will go over all of those details.

  1. I’m so sorry you had to go through all of that to save your beautiful palm tree. I think I would have a few words with the storage company. 🍁🍂🍁💚🙃

  2. I know this doesn’t really matter to anyone but me, but I got the best news ever this week! My brother has been battling lymphoma for YEARS, chemo wasn’t working anymore so as a last ditch effort they tried a newish treatment, engineered blood cells, IT WORKED he is 100% lymphoma free. They couldn’t do stem cell on him because I believe it’s very hard on your kidneys, and his at this point are not the best because of all of the chemo.and the damage it has done. The cost of that procedure was astronomical but worth it. He’s an army veteran and because he HAD to go to Vietnam he got lymphoma from agent orange they used to defoliate the jungles. The price our men had to pay for our country whether they were willing or not, don’t get me wrong he proudly served our country, but the government didn’t really give him a choice either. That’s my story and thank God for miracles.🍁🍂🍁💚🙃

  3. I don’t know if you have heard what labs in Boston have been doing, but be careful please.🍁🍂🍁💚🙃

  4. Been in Ohio now for two weeks, over all my plants and furniture with no problems, and just yesterday I busted my nose something awful on a baby gate! A friggin' baby gate!!!
Good to have you back in my weekend routine, Jeff. Be safe, stay warm and have a great weekend!! 👍👍☺️

  5. Wow that was a lot of work keeping the palm alive! I can appreciate the effort, gotta save our beauties! TFS!

  6. OMG the palm tree drama! 🌴 So sorry the company put you through all that. shakes fist Glad everything worked out. I love it when procrastination (Christmas lights, pot shards) pays off like that!

  7. You go Mcgiver….I feel your frustration…with the palm pick up….way to find out how far out of the box you can think.
Just got our first real rain in 4 mths….on the N. Oregon coast…..exceptionally dry summer. Sunny now after last nights hard rain shower..everything outside really appreciated it….the big leaf maples could not hold their leaves anymore in the steady hot and dry weather……and dropped them all early….as self protection to cover the soil around them from loosing any more moisture….and made shade over roots….and a blanket for winter and eventually compost for spring to feed the tree……..you can learn a lot from a tree……Temps. Still warm in afternoon, really nice days here yet….. not too cold at night 46 to 50's..no frost yet. Daytime up to 75°. Love your video stories. Hugs.

  8. well, at least you were able to get the palm protected and off to the greenhouse. I'm sure there was some nail biting going on there for a bit.

  9. When you said it got to a low if 49° under all the protection for your palm, I had an emotional reaction and I said out loud, “Good for you!”

  10. 100 likes from me, for effort 👍🏼👍🏼 hope that the palm tree is going to be ok 🤞🏻 shame there wasn't a sense of urgency with the company that should have had their act together l when they came for the others.

  11. Boy Jeff I cant imagine anyone nagging you about your plant care. Cut them off! LOL
Love your videos , this is another good one. 🙂

  12. Sorry for all your troubles with the Alexander. Always sad to see another season pass and have to hustle to get plants inside. I’m working on same thing but fortunately living in coast of Florida the challenge is not as dramatic

  13. You're the best!! Nurturing all your babies. It's amazing how well you take care of everything. Another creative solution ..elated that it all worked out and Mr palm will live to see another Christmas in the green house!! 🌴 🙏

He sure is a looker. Tall, slender and hansome.. So happy and healthy he was trying to reproduce. So cool so cool! You have really taken care of him well and it shows. Mr freckles was a happy camper again this year as well. Again ..great job Jeff!!! Always admire what you get up to!👏

  14. I was reading that the bubble solar covers for pools provide better insulation for plants than any other plastic (regardless of sun) if you have one of those, but looks like you have it handled 🙂

  15. I might try a heating pad around the roots of that palm. They make outdoor ones for pets.

  16. I think for fungus gnats, maybe it's not feasible for your situation, but you could add diatomaceous earth into the soil which will kill them, it'll work on ants and other insects too.
