DITL: Phoenix Summer Gardening, Bulk Shopping, My Friend Sees My Prepping Pantry!

Thank you for joining me for this Day in the Life video! Kick back and relax and enjoy. This was a really good day!

Quick note: as a general rule, I don’t show people my pantry. All of you may be laughing because clearly I post it on YouTube. I have to weigh our personal risks with what we feel is the calling on our lives: to reduce suffering in the world by spreading preparedness awareness in a practical, real-life way. Generally speaking, no one comes into the room where the pantry is. This is OpSec 101. However, like I mentioned in the video, my godson’s family is one that we plan to house and feed if necessary in a SHTF scenario, so it’s okay for her to see it. Again, as a general practice for personal security, please don’t show people your preps, unless you’re showing EVERYONE your preps like we do, lol.

  1. We actually went bulk shopping today. There was this new store that opened a couple of weeks ago. It's about 1.5 h drive away but if you stock up it is worth the drive. It was the preppers dream but unfortunately they didn't have much of an organic section but lots of vegan options (like vegan cheese and frozen soy chunks etc) Also the bulk beans and rice I wanted to buy was sold out. I think this will become a really popular place, not only for preppers. I think a lot of people want to buy in bulk but there just haven't been that many places that have the option.

Audra seems like a really nice person 🙂

  2. Your channel is so refreshing to watch! I'm in New Mexico so I agree gardening is better in the evening, although I'm sure it's even more brutal in Arizona. Audra is such a sweetheart just like you. I can see the love of your friendship. I grew up with the Chancla so it sent a chill down my spine. Lol! My sister and I make tamales (red chile jackfruit) every holiday season. I'd love to see a tamale video. Always looking for tips and tricks. 😁

  3. I love how plants that are annuals here can be perennial plants there. It's a testimony to their brilliance. I enjoyed finally meeting Audra and look forward to seeing you both make tamales. I loved her bubbly personality, gorgeous smile and her dress!!! Sage looked she was really enjoying herself today. I like how you store your seeds. Someday I hope to have mine as organized. Or at least, all in one spot. I'm still working on meal planning. I've decided to do a once a week juice fast so only need to plan for 5 days. LOL. In order to start, I need to eat from my freezers. I'm planning to cook in such a way that I have dinners in the freezer for 2 to 3 months. It works in my head. . . and of course is much easier when I'm the only one I have to cook for. Time to get out to the garden. Take care!

  4. I’m in Tucson and I just got a whole new batch of seeds from native seeds. I’m not sure if you’ve heard of them they’re right here in Tucson but the seeds that they carry are climate appropriate. I am not thrilled with my tomatoes this year. Last year I had hundreds and not so many flowers this year. I did Armenian cucumbers last year and three plants yielded me close to 100 cucumbers. I didn’t use them this year. I did a more traditional cucumber and it has actually grown and flowered more than the Armenian. I have to look and see what the seesaw but I know I got them from native seeds. Next week will be fertilizing time again. I just bought a new sprayer so hoping to get coverage with that. Funny story though. I planted a heat resistant lettuce and went up to my garden and something had chewed down to the roots. So I put some wire over it and went to check it a couple days later to see if it was sprouting and the wire had been moved a bit and more teethmarks. A few days later in the early morning I always going up to my garden. Raised garden totally covered with landscape shade fabric because it gets east, west and south sun. I turned the corner to go into my garden area and immediately backed out because there was a bobcat chewing all of my lettuce. Apparently the kitty needed some greens. After he left I dug them up and put carrots in.

  5. LOL! "Sweet Baby Jesus!" Audra was great… and you too of course! Loved the video. Thank you for taking us along through your day!

  6. I audibly said “awwww” when you mentioned that Sage slept in her one sock. 💜
Thanks for your efforts with the ads.
I’m a love language gifter too. My most fulfilling relationships have been with other gifters. No shame lol
And yes, I’d love to see a tamale tutorial in the future! 🫔

  7. Somehow, I've gone through life without hearing of Egyptian spinach. I could actually grow that in Florida. Is there a seed company you would recommend?

  8. If your county or a nearby county have a Master Gardener program, you can ask if they have a planting guide for vegetables. That would be specific to your area, based on their research.

  9. I'm growing okra here in Florida 🙂 I love it. I grew up eating tamale, so would love to see a collaboration with you too. Also, you should check out a fellow YouTubers channel, it's called Chef Jana and I just found her. She has a vegan butter recipe and several cheese recipes. Lastly if you have a hobby lobby near you (or online) you can get those xx large size embroidery mesh for $1.99 and cut to size for your round dehydrator or Excalibur and if you get it on the weekly sale it's only $1.00 🙏 ❤️😊

  10. Pull the first blooms off your peppers and the energy will go to the plant and grow bigger and then let it bloom

  11. I would like to see a tamale video. I make tamales using black beans and sweet potatoes. Our hispanic friend taught me but she was not vegan or even close and was definitely not into eating healthy so I would like to see how you would do it.
