How much and how often should you water a raised garden bed? Too much and you could open the door for disease problems. Too little and your plants will wilt away and die. Tomatoes are especially sensitive to water levels and you need to get it right. In this episode we will talk about how much water our raised bed needs, how often we need to water to get that amount, and the signs to look for to know if plants need water.

This is a great video but I feel like there's one important tidbit missing to make it really helpful — a mathematical formula to figure how much water my own garden needs. All my numbers differ from yours — my soaker hose is 25ft, my raised bed is apx 2'x4', etc. I'd like a formula to plug in my garden size, my hose length, the rate at which my hose can fill 1" of water in a can, etc. so no matter what my specs are, I can figure out how long to water my garden. I recognize there are other variables (aridity, drainage, etc) but a formula would minimize the guesswork to give a more accurate starting place from which to adjust. I want that "geeky math stuff" you mentioned at 3:58, pretty please!
What was the fancy math stuff you use to figure out how much time you needed with the soaker hose? I’m trying to figure that out as well. I have a 4×8’ bed and a 3×8’ bed as well as 1×7, 1×8, 1×6 and 1×4 raised beds, looking to set them all up with soaker hoses.
