Rust Bucket – Tank Restoration Diorama

My friends, this is the most unexpected, least planned, and almost the biggest diorama I’ve ever done so far. Considering how it was made in very limited conditions and under a tight time schedule, I’m quite surprised it didn’t turn into a total disaster!

I received a lot of them a long time ago, even before I started this channel. VMS is also one of my Patreon supporters. Being independent from big and exclusive sponsorship deals and showing you a wide variety of different brands and products was one of the founding ideas of this channel and I will always stand by this.

  1. This inspired me to put a concrete slab or brick walkway in the diorama I'm doing as a commission. The client bought some HO/ 1:87 scale nudists from a NOHC and Preiser and wants a nude beach scene. I have some warlord 13mm/1:144 scale epic Chateaus that translate pretty nicely into HO scale beach houses and a 1:72 scale WW2 Russian NCO that could make a fitting generic European/Mediterranean police officer of some sort.

The Beach houses are the backdrop on the 1'x1' slab of 2" foam, covering the entire backdrop. around 1/3 of the foreground will be water emanating from the front left corner. The middle 1/3-1/4 will be sand including a volleyball net [will use tight nit fishnet stockings for the net I think] and possibly a brick retaining/privacy wall with a walkway of this style concrete.

  2. I am always amazed by the small details like the gas bottles which look more real than the real stuff and you make it in an amount of time I would need to open the box😅

  3. Wondering if you have ever thought about painting a tank from say Warhammer etc. Would allow you to do some wild colour schemes and paint some figures which could make for a really cool spinoff series! Just a thought but i personally would love to see it.

  4. Funny thing, this is the first time i didn't liked your color palette.

    It's to cold and silverish.

  5. Restoration garage, great idea if you have more than one tank of different types and from different eras in the same diorama

  6. I'd love to see some kind of metro-2033 styled diorama set in heavy winter made by you.

  7. I would like to see you do a Sherman and crew but as in Oddball and his crew from Kelly’s heroes

  8. Have yet to see him comment on comments ie.questions, or heart any comments. Lots of questions no replies 😥☹️
