Hi folks. This weeks clip is bit of a catch up on how some of the plants are going & a heads up on our plans for the patch as they stand now. They need to be fine-tuned some so there will be future clips showing the design layout as they evolve.
Have included a brief chat about Miss Lizzie at the start for those that were wondering how she’s going.
Hope you enjoy this LONG update & your gardens are booming.
Cheers all. ๐ ๐ฑ๐

Share the clip around with family & friends if you think they'll enjoy it too. ๐ ๐ฑ๐
Cheers all & have a top one. ๐

Loving it!
You should really get a drone shot to get a better idea of layout. And you could look into some arborscupture it's a r rally good space saver been using it for my mulberry trees n apples
Glad you're back home and setting your sights on the garden. Looking forward to following along on the next steps of your journey
Hi Rob,
I personally think the clips you've posted are great. If people are not watching or liking your videos because of the remodeling then they have never had the pleasure of going through one and can kiss but. Keep em coming and glad your thinking about how your going to redo your "patch"/garden.
Best regards,
Jarrod
This all sounds interesting and exciting…Little bit different from the plan published SUNDAY, MARCH 27, 2016.
Will look at the results and compare with your permaculture paper of that date.
Not checking – just trying to learn how changes are made for changes in situations.
I am so excited for you and your family, getting resettled and growing forward. I also love that Lizzy, sheโs just like my old pug, Delilah Rose
๐คNow I know I've been watching far too long cause when you said paper planes, I started to Google "paper plane plant" like you're educating me about a new species…. ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
hi rob, how to repair the vege pod, shadecloth with silastic pushed into it with a painters spatula and masking tape it untill it dries on, i did this for a metal water tank that was rusting thru, it lasted 4 more years, even with water pushing on it.
Its awesome to see you settling back into your house. That's quite the jungle you got for a back yard man Haha. I'm looking forward to the new gardening and aquaponic clips! Cheers Rob!
not religious, but god bless you it shows how much you care, I love my dog who is now 15 and I hope you get many many more years from your pet.
Just a ring of vasoline around the base of the lemon tree will sort it out… the ants wont cross it… a couple of inches up from the soil works a treat
G'day Rob, looking forward to watching you get your little backyard farm back up and running… just pace yourself and for gods sake be careful of your back!
Haha you must be itching to get started Rob ๐ ?
Great update video mate and i cant wait to see what comes/happens in the next 6-12 months!!
Love the video Rob. Your citrus trees look great, I seem to remember your lime always producing well. I don't really know anything about papaya trees, ( would need a glasshouse in the UK I think,) but a weak dilution of H2O2 in a spray and then dry sulphur plastered over the infected area has been something that has worked for me with both fungal and bacterial rot. Your cofee bush is looking fine too. Lizzie is a total scene stealer, she seems happy just to follow you around the garden. A really smashing update. ; )
Hi Bob & Bianca – our garden looks like a mirror image of yours except for the aquaponics tanks etc. That Solanum you showed about 5:28 we also have growing here and it has quite a lot of fruit right now, we call it a fruit salad in South Africa. We also have Taro Root, lemons, papino, rhubarb, purple pod peas, bush beans, lemon grass, kale, radish, chayote, roselle, strawberries, cherry tomato, tamarillo, black fig, cherry guava, pineapple guava, turmeric, ginger, red Russian onion, gooseberry, chard, spinach, baby spinach, garlic, dragon fruit, rosemary, oregano, catmint, table celery and a lot more. Hope to see your veggie patch looking even better than it was before the Reno. Lots of Love – Brian & Sandra
Have you thought about connecting the chook yard to underneath the mango tree? They'd get fantastic shade under there. As long as you prune the mango tree high enough to stop any pilfering by chookies you should be right. It would give them a lot of shade during summer.
this us what is fun redoing things lot of thought making things better learning more
Rob mate, I just watched you vids on slug control and I was wondering if you could provide a little more info on the topic of pest control. I've tried flooding my bed for about 30 minutes and stood over it like a hawk but only picked off about 6 slugs however my broccoli has been devastated, sweet peas have been chomped and I've just planted leafy greens which I know if I don't get it under control will be the next meal on there list. Am I not flooding the bed for long enough? is there an aquaponic safe (I'm running marron, three months no deaths) pesticide? Will standing there cursing at the bed scare them off?
Any advice?
I always enjoy catching a glimpse of the stingless bees buzzing in and out of their hive. I keep bees now, but mine sting me. Very interesting update of all that is growing. Thank you and take care.

That mushroom tablecloth! ๐๐๐
And good on you, Lee! What a thoughtful housewarming gift. ๐โ๐
little tip for the lawn area, this is what I did with mine and it has gone crazy.
a layer of cracker dust then a layer of arborist mulch then some manure, I used horse, roll ya lawn right on top.
I dug a hole in mine for a sump and found some very healthy soil where sand use to be.
Don't use a soapy spray! It can strip the oils off the leaves and make the plant more susceptible to other pathogens…
Hi Rob as usual love the vids could you tell me what kind of drilling machine you used to drill theholes in you blue drums for air pruning. My drill is 2700 rpm & i tried a 3"hole saw with it & the whole thing flew off 3 feet . Someone said my drilling machine is too fast rpms too high i need a low torque machine & i would not get that crazy recoil action. Whst would you recommend?
You should really look into golden paste esp when you have your own tumeric! ๐ does wonders for arthritic dogs
G-day Can't wait for your patch to take shape, it will be amazing I'm sure.
Hey mate can I recommend you look at turmeric as a natural treatment for Lizzie if you haven't already I think it could definitely help her, vets are finally studying it & finding it's a more effective anti-inflammatory than cortizone along with all it's other benefits. Go to facebook group "turmeric users group" & have a look it's admin'd by some extremely knowledgeable vets who are happy to help & answer questions, cool vids by the way keen to see do with the yard
