We had sweet potatoes do something similar! They grew right at the crown for a lack of better explanation, then at the bottom of each potato was a root long and skinny to which grew another huge one! We dug at least two feet deep and four feet around and most likely could have kept going!! What an exciting experience it was.. oh and it was our first time growing them too!! Awesome share friend! Praise God Canada 🇨🇦
