“Mums” The Word in my Fall Front Yard

Do you actually PLANT your fall mums or do you TUCK + PLOP them amongst your other shrubs and pumpkins? I do a version of both with what I call the half-plop! It keeps them stable in high wind, retains moisture, and looks more natural in the landscape. Watch to find out my technique. What do YOU do?!?

  3. Might be Easter….LOL.!
Looks really good, love the combination of everything.

  4. Linda! I thought you were a fancy scarecrow sitting in your garden🧐😂lol
Plopping, looks easy and nice. No stress, no mess. 🍂🍁
Everything looks so festive.🎃Thank you again……

  5. Hi Linda, can't wait to see how they look when they bloom. They look lovely now just as they are. Your garden is amazing!

Don't mums stay green all year long? I remember planting two large mums in front of my house years ago. They looked like round little busshes when not in bloom until they expired. I just got some and I'm fixing to plant them hoping they last a long time. 🤩🤩

  6. Love how you have staged it all! Another tip, if the container is not going to be moved at all cut the bottom out of it, that way the plant will not need as much watering and it's still elevated in the landscape.

  7. Hey Linda very nice, like the way u place the pumpkins…I watch all your videos, very inspirational and a classy lady .

  8. You are rocking this look today. I am in love with the blazer. I bet your closet is full of gems. Good idea about the mums. I’ll try that this year as I never have great luck with them.

  9. The Jacket! The earrings! The Boots! The Sunglasses! Could you be any more movie star darling? I love the plop theory of the mum! Your pumpkins are divine too!

  10. What is that plant with the purple leaves right at the front of the bed while you were planting the mum closest to the road? Is it some kind of sedum?

  11. The variety of pumpkins together with all of your other plantings look terrific and welcoming. Thank you!

  12. Linda that was funny!!!! if you waited for the noise to stop it would be Easter and it is all about Halloween now!!!!! That gave me a good laugh!!!

  13. Linda, you are looking so stylish, my dear…and so is Stewart’s shadow! The mums echo your boxwoods beautifully. May God richly bless you ❤️

  14. Excellent and brilliant. Who knew! Instant seasonal garden under mature tree that won’t play nice with real plantings. Absolutely love this inspiration you have provided us!

  15. Thank you for the tips! Looks like a nice transition to fall. I'm going this weekend to pick up my mums. Excited for fall.

  16. Love this look…kind of your own little pumpkin patch . I keep hearing the alkaseltzer commercial in my head now…”Plop, plop… fiz fizz oh what a relief it is!” Lol Great ideas as always!

  17. Hi Linda- I came across your videos almost a month ago, and I have been watching them almost everyday. Quite beautiful and inspiring! Hopefully, one day I’ll be able to share my own before and after 🌞

  18. Beautiful space and I love Halloween 🎃 I have sporadically placed plastic pots into the ground larger than the potted plants I buy. Throughout the season I will place color or structural interest into these larger pots to liven up my beds. I deal with high gusts and this also keeps the plants from drying out and no digging just “plop”in the plants. TFS love your channel. Stay safe and healthy everyone 🙌🏼❤️

  19. Hi Linda! I love your enthusiasm and style. This is absolutely gorgeous and your neighbors are going to get joy out of looking at this!
I remember a video of you spray painting orange craft pumpkins either gray or silver??? I searched your archives and didn't find it. Maybe it disappeared when your account got hacked? I would love to get this look. Maybe in a video soon? 🙂

  20. I do the half plop with my mums. I like that it looks planted, but it's temporary. I may try to use one or two as a perennial. I love your jacket, too. Thank you, Linda.

  21. Plopping is such a great idea, I will definitely try. I know you've answered this before but I need a refresher, how do you overwinter a small boxwood topiary in a terra-cotta pot? Can I leave outside or should I bring in garage or inside the house? I do not have a green house. You always look so beautiful in your garden, I'm usually in old t-shirts and sweatpants ☺️

  22. love the pumpkins,i wonder if you cut the base of the pots out, theres less plastic to get hot and they can root slightly while in place.

  23. Love all the jacks and mums. Your gardens are just beautiful!…..question….where do you get your gorgeous earrings??? They are the perfect tube style hoop. I love that you look so cute while gardening!

  24. Love your jacketoutfit! 🧡 n love all you pumpkins and jack o lanterns! 🎃 What a great tip to half plop mums into holes. Thank you for sharing!! 🧡🧡🧡🧡

  25. great video* I am shocked that your pumpkins looks so great, mine get eaten by the squirrels, big chunks out of all of mine so now mine look horrible. Yours look so good though with those gorgeous mums

  26. Love your garden. Last year we got snow early and I didn't get my Mums out or put my tulips into the ground. Surprize this spring every single Mum started leafing out! I'm in Ontario, Canada. So I dug them up, moved them to the side of my house in an area where I have a small garden. This fall I was able to dig them up again and move them back to my front yard! Saved a ton of $ lets see how long I can keep them going 🙂
