How to support young broad bean plants with one simple technique!

This week on The Horti-Culturalists we find ourselves in the veggie garden to witness the Stephen Ryan patent method for growing broad beans! It’s a simple to manage system that gives both a grid for sowing the seeds and a support for the plants as they grow and then provides easy access to harvest the crop! Stephen mentioned this technique on his radio program and had such a lot of feedback about it we decided to film the process over two seasons to show you exactly how its done. Of course….there were a FEW unforeseen circumstances…but we got there in the end! There is also a quick segue into a patch of Claytonia perfoliata, also known as miner’s lettuce, growing on the compost heap, and the Amaranthus that was still perky in mid winter!
