    Dont think its for breathing! When foot is coming on the heel needs space and to have there a bit of strechy material makes the heel of the foot get to help foot slide in more easily!

    Ali, I don't know if you have Espoma Citrus-Tone in the UK but it a fertilizer that really helps and I use it in the cooler months to set up my plants for success.

    You needed a soft glove and your hands may of been saved from harm as you worked.

    The herringbone was just vinyl and real wood will be so much nicer and last longer. So that is why they took it up.

    Medical tape over areas prone to blisters under your work gloves helps keep your hands from further damage thanks for sharing 😉

    I really like the floor boards in your study. They are lovely. Glad you like the new ones you have but I preferred the old ones. Just realised you don’t have a garage. Instead of a shed you could have had a stacker garage and shed. All in one

    P.S. The old floor was much better…so sad you have to be a part of this continuous ripping up, redoing and greenification of things.
