October 2022: Full tour of Allotment Plot: Productive Vegetable Garden UK: 2 full plots!

It’s the end of October and Rachel gives a tour around the plots. We have harvested more crops, but we do still have some still in the ground!

At Don’t Crop Me Now we have 500sq.m of space comprising 1 full plot and 2 halves and follow a ‘No Dig’ method in raised beds. We grow a wide range of fruit, veg and flowers which supply our kitchen all year round. We are not fully self-sufficient, but we shop very rarely.

  1. Lots going on Rachel and you’ve both cleared up a ton of stuff 😂😂 who said gardening ends in winter never grew veg. Great tip about putting the tops on those cold frames so many people don’t think about how wet things get in winter. Loads of brassica seed pods if it gets cold can you clip off the stalks and hang them to dry further? Thank you for sharing this tour have a fantastic week 🐝 safe

  2. I’d be having a stir fry with those lovely purple Calabrese. Lots of lovely crops you’ve got. Interested to know how you remove your brassica seeds? Have saved garlic fennel and carrot this year but never tried brassica

  3. Hi Rachel. I was just thinking yesterday that your latest tour was due. Always good to see what you are getting up to. I have today cut back and mulched my asparagus. It was a year old April just gone so still some time before we can harvest properly.

  4. Hi Rachel. I have just discovered your channel and I’m so pleased . I had no idea that we could pressure can in lug jars, I invested in a Presto pressure canner a while ago and have yet to use it. Now I can can without remortgaging the house to buy jars. Plus through you I have joined the Uk canning and preserving Facebook group 🥳. Really appreciate the time you and hubby take to share your knowledge and experiences. Please when possible do more canning tutorials, you are such a down to earth teacher. Well done. Keep up the good work. Ros x🍎🥬🥒🌶🍅🌽🫑
