Barebones Hori Hori: The Ultimate Gardening/Camping Tool Review

If you have a yard or you grew up with a garden you know how tough it can be to pull weeds. Well, the Japanese have come up with a great way of getting rid of those pesky weeds while also being stylish. Then Barebones Living took this idea and made it all their own.

The Barebones living Hori Hori has all the great functionality of the classic Japenese Hori Hori but now instead of just a root cutter with a cupped blade. You have a strong knife you can take camping with you.

The Knife is made of Stainless Steel. with a Walnut handle.
The Tang is full length but the pommel on the end is attached by a screw.

One side of the knife blade has a serrated edge with the other has a straight edge that is rather dull and will need some attention paid to it if you want something that could resemble sharp. I am sure they had to do this for the different state laws that prevent duel edged knives.

The knife has the ability to being able to be used for digging and cutting. but also after a long day of setting up the campsite, you can use it to open a nice cold brew with the built-in bottle opener and twine cutter.

This knife is strong and feels good and solid in my hands the handle is comfortable to hold. The blade is 7.525 inches long with an overall length of 13.25 inches

The sheath is waxed Canvas and also has leather accents. There is a plastic liner in the sheath to hold the sheath open and keeps the knife from cutting through the canvas fabric.

  1. May I suggest when showing the knife and sheath you could hold it still in the view of the camera and slowly show angles. It will make the video seem less schizophrenic.
It will also keep people's eyes from falling out if their faces when looking at this video. People would like to see the build quality of items being talked about.

  2. There may be different types of barebones hori hori made. The one l saw on the website however, is stainless steel as you said.
    Well observed.

  3. Have you ever tried to open a bottle with this thing, ??
I've got a barebones hori hori knife, and the only thing it won't do, is lift a cap off a bottle.. That is supposed to be a twine cutter,,, .
    Also, Hori, means dig,,,
