This was an encounter that I have never experienced before. I came across this super overgrown lawn while driving around with my wife, so I decided to knock on the door. Everything about this house looked like it was abandoned. There were broken windows, the grass and weeds were extremely overgrown, and there was a padlock on the door. I knocked anyway to make sure and there was no answer.

After this, I decided to knock on a few of the neighbors doors to get some more information about the house. Every single one of them told me it was vacant and have never seen anyone there in years.

So, I went back the next day and cleaned up the sidewalks and lawn to make the neighborhood look better. In the middle of blowing a sidewalk off, the owner of the home showed up and he was not happy…

  1. You took an enormous risk working with all that poison ivy. I hope the owner appreciates your efforts. You have obvious skill with your gardening and landscaping equipment. Everything looks so much better than it did before you started. I hope the neighborhood, as well as the owner, appreciates your free time and labor to make their outdoor space more enjoyable. Karma is on your side!

  2. Wonderful kind deed! This house may have had several additions over the years. This house may have Historical Significance of sorts. There are pieces of this house that appear to be from the mid 1800's plus or minus. Sweet home worth saving for sure!

  3. I'm sure his mother or grandmother is looking down and thanking you right now. What a wonderful thing to do!! God bless you!

  4. Now, just need someone who enjoys doing concrete work as much as you enjoy your work. Could fix up those sidewalks!
That was so amazing that you were willing to talk to him about anything else he might want done. Your awesome, young man!
Edit: business idea for you. Offer to maintain the yard and stuff like this. In return, you just get to put signs for your business in his yard..

  5. Ilove my mother she passed. i got her house now. i dont mow the yard are keep it hedged up and cut back at all. i love my mother so

  6. Fantastic! It's a good time to sell it while it still looks good. The owner is never going to do anything with it.

  7. $10,000 wouldn't be enough to pay you for this hard work!!! You've made a huge improvement in this neglected property!! I wish I could help you but I have arthritis and am 71. Hopefully someone will be moved to help you with your projects! God bless you, sir!

  8. Unfortunately, the city might demand that those sidewalks are fixed now that they can be seen to be in such poor shape. Either way, you're the man!

  9. WOW, what a change. I understand how that guy feels. I'm disabled and my yard has gotten away from me. There's not much I can do and I'm sure you made his day. If someone did that for me, I'd ball my eyes out in thanks. When you lose the ability to do stuff, it's hard on your pride.

  10. Very good of you do do all that work. If you ever need to get rid of poison ivy, goats eat it like candy.
All that soil washed out onto the concrete is what happens when you fall prey to the concept of "adding 1/4" of topdressing every year." Ideally someone would scrape off the top inch or so, down to the level of the hardscape, and haul it away. The soil underneath is fine and can be made better with organic fertilizers.

  11. Wow you really had your work cut out for you. God Bless you helping people with their properties that would not otherwise get done

  12. your one in a million brother dont ever change but be careful this world is cruel and it loves to wreck nice souls

  13. Good work. I love to see business Owners take time out of their schedule to help their community.

  14. I was cutting a church yard in theirs homes near by a old guy came to me saying I'm drowning grass on his grass and the road

  15. It doesn't honor anyones memory to let a property fall into disrepair and ruin, regardless of how sad the reason.

"By god I'm going to hang onto this insert item here and let it rot all to hell because my mommy/daddy/granddaddy/whomever owned it and family name blah blah bull$hit blah blah blah…."

The stupidity is boundless. Sell the property or vehicle or whatever to someone who can show it some frickin respect and who will repair and USE it.

  16. You know who else appreciates you? The people who have to live around those run down properties. You will be blessed for your kindness.

  17. Great job once again Spencer! I was cringing watching you work around that poison ivy. 😬 Did you get it again? 🤞

  18. One hell of a job mate. You deserve a medal as big as a trash can lid. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇦🇺
