This is how to use and amend Dollar Tree potting soil and turn it into the best mix possible mix for you plants. (At least this is what I do right now)
General, all purpose mixes are okay to use straight out of the bag! I have used this Dollar Tree potting soil straight out of the bag and my plants are fine. However, plants do best in soil mixtures made as close as possible to the type of soil they would grow in naturally, which is why you would amend or create your own potting mixes.

Gardenscape who distributes the product says the ingredients are peat humus, sphagnum peat moss, vermiculite, perlite, dolomitic limestone and other composted materials.
I've read that things like little pieces of wood are good for potted plants to prevent soggy soil. The Kellogg Patio Plus has some, and that's one reason I like it, but I"m in a gardening zone where I use mostly drought-tolerant plants. I just watch how things do, and have picked out a few things to which I've added the diaper contents, and after a few days I'd say that's working.

Hi Vesma, I recently bought potting soil from the Dollar Tree and left it outside for a few weeks (in the rain). I opened the bag to pot some plants and the soil was like a grey mud. Is this still good to use?
I don’t have any of the add ins. I repotted some of plants with this soil. It feels very sandy. Should I be worried and repot with a better soil or add these extras in?
