Vegetable Gardening

Greenhouse And Poly Tunnel Update

In this video we update the greenhouse and polytunnel. We sowed/planted vegetables to grow and harvest through autumn and winter. In this update we show you how things are getting on – good and bad!

Welcome to the No Dig Norfolk Gardener and our no dig/no till garden where we grow vegetables. We garden in zone 9a. Although we grow our veg from our back garden it is very much set up like allotment gardening UK – allotment life. Our passion is vegetable gardening, bigger harvests and no dig gardening. You will see how growing your own food is so easy.

We have things to harvest now and things that will harvest later in the year and into next year.

  1. My potatoes are in the greenhouse and doing ok,some haven't done anything, but I think that's more the seed as it's the one type that hasn't come up.or has but not as much as the others
All the others are still small ISH.
I have plants that could go in the ground now….but I'm concerned if they do they will not grow out there,I think I would be better off potting them onto bigger pots and keeping them in the sheltered shelves, has greenhouse covering.and the onions in there are doing good.
Broad beans haven't one up yet….once they are up and strong they will go back outside,I brought them in as only one grew, and found out why…..the seed I planted vanished!!! Not sure what happend to them. But I have replanted and put them inside under cover on the windowsill that gets the sun all day while it's up.
Once they are up I will more then back into the shelved unit and keep them under cover untill ready to put them in the grow bags where I want them to grow. Have planted some to do as cover crop and some to get beans for dad.
Will also be sowing some green manure over soil I don't plan to use this winter,as want to help the soil get better for next year for spring time to grow more food then.

We plan to get on with the compost pile soon as ATM we have been collecting what we want and banging it all up….just need to shred aload of cardboard and make the pile lol but the weather so been so wet and is due to continue to be,I wish we had half now and half 3months ago,or even 5 months ago….would have been better all round. But nothing we can do about it. It will be as it be. The issue is when it's too wet the crops don't grow…that's what's happened with the carrots in the tunnel for you…too moist. Its difficult to keep everything right. But we all do our best, and a harvest is still a harvest.

  2. You guys are cute. Good advice about using a diary to recall what was done before. I have a new greenhouse that I am planting now though we already have snow and below freezing temps already here in Reno. It will be interesting to see the difference with my old poly house here.
