  1. Awesome vid Tony! I love it how many people are starting channels like yours now. I started my channel with just an S8 phone – it wasn't great but it was alright! You're bang on about shaky camera being an issue – it turns so many people off your video instantly if they're feeling travel sick.

Also bang on about audio, my first video had in built audio and I instantly had to get a mic. If you don't have the cash for the rode Wireless Go! (which I just bought and started using and really recommend, like you Tony) then the Rode VideoMic Go is also great. SUPER quality for the size of it and ease of use, and it's only about £30 compared to the £160 for the wireless!

I use the m50 for my footage but you're not wrong about it needing a lot of time and attention in the editing etc. That's why I can only do one video a week!

  2. Great info Tony, was watching somebody else the other day and they were bouncing all over the place. Love the holder. Was wondering how you know where to aim the camera especially in the car. That mic does the job spot on. Keep up the good work.

  3. Thanks for great tips. I'm using my mobile 📱 to record videos but not good as your videos post on your channel.

  4. That’s great thanks Tony , I’ve just started a you tube channel and all shaky is exactly what I do 🤣🤣🤣

  5. Thank you for the tips. I have a channel and just have an old phone to film with, I get that shaking and the wind noise, so annoying.
Fingers crossed Father Christmas will bring me some new gear.

  6. It’s ok I will leave the YouTube to the garden pros 😂😂 and sorry but to get to the important things where is the star Miss Daisy 😂😂😂 always nice to see your smiling face too though. Stay safe and stay gardening from Langley 🇨🇦✌️🧑‍🌾👍🥕🥬🍆☮️

  7. Nice of you to share all you’ve learned through trial and error Tony. Thanks. I’m not quite there yet! Though I have put some manure round a worn out rhubarb crown today. 3 weeks into working a new allotment, my first one.

  8. Excellent advice. My son is thinking of starting a YouTube channel (cooking) this is the sort of thing he is looking for. Thanks once again Tony – Keep Safe and well.

  9. Thanks for the shout out Tony, yes I am going down the same route as Tony with a GoPro Hero 9 camera and Rode mic..I have used the mic a couple of times already and I am delighted with it..I have the camera now also, just waiting on the mounts to start using. Get out there everyone and start filming, yes Tony gets some hints from me which is great, but I also get some from him too.!! And that is what it is all about…Steve.

  10. That's really great info,Tony! If and only if I can get the courage to show my face on a video, I will want something different to my big, unruly sized Nikon P900! Working on the bravery bit… For now, I hope people are ok that it's just voice. It's a big hurdle for me! lol Thanks again, I see where I'll want to go when the time is right! All the best!💚~Chris

  11. Thank you, a very helpful video. I’ve been wanting to start a Chanel but didn’t know how to. It looks like a bit of an investment which can be done over time, so maybe I’ll think about giving it another go. You forgot to mention your tip for the mic sock. What editing software do you use…….or could that be your next video.

  12. Hi there, fantastic videos allways watch them, did you say what's the name of the app you use to edit your vids 🤔, I'm from Birmingham have two allotments next to each other it's our life especially has been in this lock down, meany thanks for sharing with us your vids.

  13. thank you Tony for saying this. I can't tell you how often I have this conversation with new youtubers (and students – I work in HE) who obsess over the production, 4k, transitions, camera work etc and forget that the content of the video is the important bit folk are coming for. Yes, audio is super important, you need decent audio (not perfect) but the most important thing is the content of the video 🙂

I'm in the middle of a video showing behind the scenes on my channel, I do things a wee bit different from you, but I think it is really good for folk to see the truth about youtube rather than thinking they have to be Peter MacKinnon 🙂 thanks again for this – super simple – perfect.

  14. This is so useful, we’re really stepping up our YouTube channel from January and I can’t wait! What video editing software do you use please? Thank you! Tracy and Ste!

  15. Thanks for this upload Tony I just upgraded from my phone and didn’t want to get a new phone for film as it will be busted in work in 2 min got myself all the kit you got there saved a bit also as the rode mic is on offer on bc Amazon at the moment and I saved on the camera and gear on GoPro website went looking for this directly from watching this
