Harvesting persimmons early this year due to the cold weather in the Pacific Northwest. Usually these are harvest during September through November. We were given this persimmon tree in 2018 by our family member who never got it to fruit. The first year in 2019 we had about 10-15 persimmons, and when the pandemic hit, we didn’t get any at all for 2 year straight but luckily this year 2022 we got over 18-20 of them but not fully ripen yet but edible because we were afraid it would get bad due to the cold winter weather. The name of the fruit translate to “food of Gods”. My daughter is not a fan of these fruits, but they are suppose to be sweet and tangy.
They are best suited to grow in USDA Hardiness Zone 7-11 – Asian Persimmons (Diospyros kaki); and for American Persimmons (D. virginiana) are usually hardy to Zone 5.
