Japanese Garden

Moss: A celebration. A bonsai enthusiast raves about humble moss.

As bonsai enthusiasts we often use moss to dress our pots and to mimic grass and give a false sense of scale or maturity to our bonsai creations and compositions. It is also used extensively in Japanese gardens because it brings a sense of serenity and calm. However, moss though exceptionally beautiful, is greatly overlooked and under appreciated.

This then is my celebration of the beauty of moss, in all it’s many varieties and forms, it ‘s growing habits and range of colours.

Join me as I take a closer look in gloroius 4K at this humble, but profoundly beautiful, plant beneath our feet.

Enjoy 🙏😊

  1. It always amazes me that there are so many varieties of mass. All beautiful in my opinion. Very enjoyable and soothing video to enjoy early on a Sunday morning here in Connecticut. Thanks, keep growing

  2. Jason great video! All the different images you found from bonsai to giant waterfalls covered with moss were beautiful. Thank you for sharing. You only missed 1 photo though and that is the side walk cracks. I am just joking with you.😁

  3. What a great video to sit and relax to with a cuppa. Really shows the beauty of mosses.

  4. Hi Jason. Another really nice video. there is a fine line between this kind of content being boring, and it being meditative and enjoyable to watch, and you always seem to nail it. Keep up the good work!

  5. Hi Jason; well done Sir. Good moss which can take the sun is extremely difficult for me to find. I ordered Kyoto moss spores and giving it a go under lights. BTW at 3:31 in your video there is a Japanese lantern in the shot. I recently found a supplier in Kyoto for old lanterns and asked the price. 1.300,000 yen. plus shipping etc. I can do with my locally made knock offs . lol

  6. Very nice, very relaxing!
Funnily enough I was going to do a moss video soon, I will leave it a few weeks so it doesn't overlap yours (actually it's just a good excuse for me to procrastinate and postpone it 😂

  7. If you paint a portrait in a canvas you bring out the image through the highlights, the background the accents. You set a certain mood. You just enhanced the philosophy of bonsai mate, great video and thanks.
