Backing up crops for the future is a smart thing to do. All Countries should do that. Living a lavish life like a corrupt/deceptive/greedy elite isn't real life. AGRICULTURE is real life. Without Agriculture, nobody gets to eat.

This initiative of harnessing DNA from bygone wild crops is a very smart and essential move of Israel Scientists . They must be congratulated by heart . Other countries too should follow the example of Israel . In India there are number of original varieties of various crops . India should take lead in such programs.

Well done …story. (My late father was a ww2 veteran, who returned from the Pacific battleship job to his farm farm in Western Colorado. Then, he was a farmer once again. He raised alfalfa hay for his cows. Then he grew barley for beer makers ..or winter wheat and oats for sale to other farmers.I love agricultural stories and your own story is lovely from Israel today. They are not anyone else's but their own savior…they are just making sure that they their monopolizing agricultural profits from infertile crops wouldn't get destroyed by climate change. Traditional seed saving and preserving of native flora is what should be applauded. It's ridiculous how agricultural monopolies doing the same they have always done- comb nature to finding more climited 'n disease resistant/ yielding genes from natives fertile plants to make sterile GMO crops for them to monopolize and profit from.
I think there is a similar seed bank in one of the Nordic countries.
GMO? I hope that they are not talking about making them Round-Up ready like Monsanto GMO seeds.
