    I just bought one but it was expensive and hard to find. How can I tell if it’s pvc. It said it was but it’s brown inside. 😲

    I am glad for your instructions. I can get down spouts. I never asked the store to cut it so I looked like I was jousting with my car and the long pipe sticking out! ( don't worry, I was safe) thanks for starting the selling of end caps. I bought from you. I enjoy bok choi regularly thanks to you. I want to expand to more veggies. Thanks for sharing other vendors. I share the idea with others. Hope that when the need arises, they remember and try it. Cheers.

    I made a sheet plastic template, which fits snugly into the end of a downspout, then trace around the template with an exact knife while the template lies on a sheet of nonporous foam, then push the newly-created cap inside the end of the downspout with 1/4" reveal and hot glue it in place. This keeps the glue from touching my growing liquid.

    I use my Kratky systems to start seedlings in soil using 2 inch net pots, having switched to growing in wicking tubs.

    Hi, Mike! Been watching you for years and bought stuff from your Etsy shop. Never a disappointment. The world needs more people like you. I do have a bunch of downspout that I've made and bought from you. And I'm growing stuff. I'm on the verge of designing an automatic watering system simply because 1. I'm lazy and 2. sometimes I travel and could be away for several weeks.

    an alternative is a 4×4 post vinyl covering. you can get end caps for them too.. try Home Depot or Lowes or even Amazon.

    Would making those downspouts with a V-shape bottom (as opposed to flat) make a difference – as you need less water and the roots will be forced to the center, so they will always be in the water/liquid? I was thinking of going to a company that makes them and having them use a mold (I guess they use extrusion) – so if they make a mile in that shape, incl. the holes you have enough for years to come (ok, joking), but it might be worthwhile to enquire?

    I have a few 3d printers and I was considering making a bunch of the end caps and selling them to people who don't have the equipment or expertise, at a cost of materials, electricity, labor and shipping.
    The big thing for me is making sure people can grow they're own food especially during these times but I would like to make them not necessarily for profit but not at a loss either. There's also a few tweaks I've made in the design.

    I got some end caps from you and am very happy with them. When I get the time, I have a vacuum forming machine that should be able to make the end caps at about one per minute. The machine was built from plans and works well, and certainly cheaper than injection molding . I will send a video with the first test.
