Ruined Brand new Stamped Concrete Driveway!?! I cant Believe this Happened!

In this video we will be showing you the intense situation we went through on this driveway pour and how we ended up fixing it. It wasn’t easy and was definitely a stressful situation! Other than that everything came out beautiful and we did an amazing stamped concrete driveway!

  1. This is awesome work and a teaching class included in every video along with a lot of hard work and quality control which is a must. Odell is the best with the best people working with him it shows in every video.

  2. must be one of the most depressing things to see your hard work being ruined, i'm looking forward to seeing you fix it in a clever and simple way though

  3. It seems like it would be really easy to let at least certain sections get away from you while you're trying to stamp concrete. I'd be worried about that anyway. Is the only solution to just move really fast or is there retarder in the concrete when you stamp normally?

  4. These things happen .
Most people wouldn’t show this to avoid the bad comments. When stuff like this happens you adapt and fix it and get it done just like you did . great job Odell crew
    Wishing you guys the best

  5. Good job! 🙂 Beautiful finish. One question re the cantilevered steps: are they prone in the near future of colapsing on the front curved face?

  6. Came out good! Now the house needs a new paint job color to match better with the driveway color as well as some landscaping 🙂

  7. Nasty video… Nasty i say

Monolithic everything. Except the joints but the saw cut looks better.

I thought that trailer door was coming at me. Unga bunga!

I had subbed out "specalists" to do work for me and almost everytime i could have done it better myself.

David does your son rejuvinate your love for exterior remodeling?

  8. Absolutely beautiful. If I could go back, I would have learned to do concrete instead of going to college.

  9. Every craftsman runs into problems.

The sign of a good craftsman is how well he recovers.

  10. Double sided tape works really well I’ve even used the same piece multiple times on pool copping!
Also I like micro fiber in the mix if you use liquid release on the face of the foam it usually won’t stick and it won’t eat the foam!

You guys do awesome work thanks!

  11. That looks amazing… For myself who works on my vehicles and such, I could not deal with a driveway with a texture like that, but if I had a good sized shop (like an RV garage with the 6 bay garage) then I would do something like that for curb appeal out front. You guys did amazing work. I'd like to see more on the fix for the step, did you guys mix more concrete to fill back in and use the screws like a dowl/rebar type thing to hold it in? Or did they press the curb that fell off back on? Did it require a coat of cement glue or something to help hold it to the step poured awhile back to prevent a cold joint crack? Just interested in that part more is all. A video on that scenario laying it out would be cool to see.

  12. I wonder if a buried 6-inch strip of chicken wire or lathe would hold that bullnose like a champ. Masonry work might be too nice for the house. that is one sweet driveway guys!

  13. With a sprayer with water add a little bit of dawn soap and spray the bullnose foam the day of the pour and I’ll bet that won’t happen again

  14. They make adhesives that are foam proof that you can buy at the home center and there is a form release liquid that can be had for that white foam. There are quite a few designs of that foam edge we used to use them on swimming pools but we never had to strip them early for a finish as pools have epoxy finishes on them but I sure used to sweat installing those foam forms on those custom radias`s but never broke one.

  15. wow if those pieces of styrofoam were more than twenty five bucks each i would be really pissed at myself for ruining them. that spray glue has solvents in the propellent. didn't you ever spray carb clean or brakleen around any foam? seems like you could have used double side tape without melting them. how much were they?

  16. those steps are a many comebacks waiting to happen. sorry you guys are super talented but that wasn't' too good

  17. Yeah, it's the solvent in the 3m that dissolves the styro. Like you said if you let the solvent dry first you can apply the styro with little or no dissolving. I found out the hard way too. Industrial strength double sided tape is probably easiest and most versatile way to attach styrofoam to anything in my experience.

  18. Not sure why I don’t get notifications about your new videos. But I haven’t been getting them lately

  19. The great thing about the fast motion videos is you can actually see that there’s a group of people that all know what they’re doing and they work in unison and as a team. It’s great to see

  20. If you want to square lines at this scale the easiest it the square root of two.(1.4142)
Measure 100 inches along the baseline and swing an arc at 100 inches.
Then work from your 100" mark and swing an arc at 141 7/16.

  21. "We saved it"? "Tough one for us"? The finisher saved it. I know he isnt part of the team. Just a fnisher you paid 300 cash for the day.

  22. If I remember you guy's are in Cali, right? Are the prices on everything as bad as they say? I am in NC and prices are getting outta hand on everything which I know all of America is feeling. It just seems like it's been that way for a long time for California. Does Newsom promise his voters the world or something?

  23. A couple of questions:

    1. How are the house vents dealt with the planter going in?

    2. Will the dirt of the planter go directly up against the stucco of the house?

  24. Your son should take his time on the job and maybe not be so explaining that's what makes your videos great Dave and hardly any errors

  25. I get a 10 piece box. 8’ long of the “Deep Regular” styrofoam forms for $380 or $39 for one. Santa Rosa CA.
