Thanks for visiting the Freshcutky organic gardening channel. In the garden, I will answer some of the most common “gardening for beginners” type questions I get, including growing flowers from seed. Growing greens, growing flowers, and planting beautiful organic food is something I’m really passionate about. Thank you for joining me as I learn to grow flowers, cut flowers, vegetables, and much more. Freshcutky youtube channel and related media are for entertainment purposes only.

Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

What is “@freshcutky”?

@freshcutky documents the pursuit of my goal of one day owning my own cut flower farm. Along the way, you’ll see random projects, cooking, and of course – growing stuff. I’m not an expert, and would never claim to be. There’s always more to learn – this is my journey. The purpose of my blog, and other social media accounts (including YouTube) is to share ideas. I do my best to offer information that is useful, but reliance on that information is strictly at your own risk and NOT a substitute for professional advice of any kind. I do not create sponsored content or use affiliate links unless they have been explicitly stated above.

  1. I love this idea of donating flowers! I am excited to start a cut flower garden but I can only keep so many!

  2. You can't sale?!? YES you can! If your farm (garden) is larger than 400 Sq. Feet, you can absolutely sale. Try a small CSA, maybe 5-10 every week or every two weeks. I love the donation idea and believe that you can do that while still earning money off of you work!

  3. Thank you so much for this! I’ve been wanting to have a donation garden too. Thank you for helping me avoid heartbreak by advising we research before we begin.

  4. We have about 60 families in our church, so for my vegetables, when I have over abundance, I go down the directory of families and call each family. If theyvtell me not to call again, I won't, but the rest i keep a list of who got what, when and them as needed. If I just make a general statement to everybody, few will call to get stuff. I don't worry about flowers going to waste, I just may have to do more dead heading.

  5. Excellent video! Thank you! You have a very unique style in how you show short clips and narrate, moving just the right amount of time from one frame to the next.

  6. I’m a new subscriber and didn’t know you donate your flowers. I am growing a cut flower garden for the first time this year and want to give a lot away. I have a lot to learn and this was helpful, thank you! That soap was cool!

  7. I've been watching your channel for a long time and know how kind you are! God bless you sweetie, I just love how wonderful you are to so many people❤👍❤👍❤👍

  8. Blame the food thing on the USDA. Alot of places like care facilities or shelters/soup kitchens can't accept locally donated food.

  9. You are a kind-hearted soul. Yours is one of my favorite gardening channels. I enjoy your content immensely.

  10. This was so interesting and informative! I love how you use your gifts to give back. I'd like to learn how to grow cut flowers this year and give them to essential workers.

  11. What a wonderful idea, to donate, for someone like me who just want to grow all flowers I can get! Thank you for sharing this. But I might have missed some information. I thougt you grew flowers for your living. Do you have another job that pays all seed and equipment? Or is it youtube that finance this?

  12. I am building a large cut flower garden in the hopes to sell flowers in addition to veggies to supplement my husbands income (since I'm unable to work a regular 9-5 after being rear-ended) but I'm also wanting to grow a lot to donate! I always cut & arrange flowers for my neighbors throughout the summer & its such an a great feeling to put a smile on someone's face!

  13. "That's so disheartening" was my exact thought as you were talking about places not accepting your produce, and then you said you were disheartened… It's so weird when that happens!! hahaha
But I kind of get that… Kind of don't.. I suppose if they are places that are federally funded, they probably have certain regulations they have to follow, or really any place that prepares food..

  14. Thank you for sharing your garden story. I loved hearing it! 💐

So weird that people/organizations didn’t want to accept food that was fresh, local, homegrown, sustainability grown, (and I’m sure organically grown even if not certified) etc.

Keeping track of what you give away is a good idea. Stem count/ value…I’ll do that!

  15. Abso-bloomin' wonderful. Thank you for incredibly informative and beautiful videos. Much appreciated.

  16. I had a similar experience with food banks and soup kitchens in my area. They wouldn't take food, they only wanted money. Tsk!

  17. My post keeps failing?? Continued,
So get a hold of your low income housing nearest to you and get approved to set up a stand!! I think if you write a letter and make a in person appointment to let the Mayor see your serious about it. It's already government owned so all you will need is supplies and even that should be donated to you!! Habitat for humanity should donate your stand or items you may need!!! Or the Mayor should give u vouchers!!🤗😁😁 The low income housing is lmha Lucas metropolitan housing Authority just add your county or call 211 they will know what zip code!!

  18. Hi. I'm new to gardening. I live in Central Texas and I'm wondering if dahlias can grow year round indoors?
