Special New Plants! Unboxing Fancy Houseplants

Fun aroids here from Ecuagenera! All of these wishlist plants have been sitting around various online shopping carts for a long time now in hopes that the rare plant craze would calm down and prices would become more reasonable. I ended up editing out a good chunk of the video where I talked about acclimating and rehabing imported plants because it seemed off topic for what did not need to be a long video. Also my growing conditions aren’t very relatable so how I acclimate isn’t all that applicable to a lot of people’s homes.
To summarize: I hydrate either with a long soak if they are fully bare root or cuttings(24-48hrs) or just a couple of hours if they are in moss since the moss will hold onto hydration until it’s time to pot. I then remove moss, clean up dead roots and pot the plants and place them in an area that doesn’t get extreme airflow and I up my humidity closer to 80% as long as I can maintain a temp to ensure proper VPD. … Some people use totes and tubs for a few weeks to hold the humidity in during the acclimation process which works well. I have found the grow space to be humid and warm enough to not need a container to reduce transpiration or need much assistance in the way of acclimation.

  1. I would love to have all of those beauties. Unfortunately I think I would end up killing them. Plants that love humidity hate me lol! Hope you and your family have an awesome holiday!!

  2. Here I go again, I’m jealous! Gorgeous plants Jeff! I know they’re in good hands and will grow beautifully for you 🍁🍂🍁🦃💚

  3. Here I go again, I’m jealous! Gorgeous plants Jeff! I know they’re in good hands and will grow beautifully for you 🍁🍂🍁🦃💚

  4. I’ll be talking at you more later, I have a few things I need to get caught up on. 🍁🍂🍁🦃💚🙃

  5. Fun plants, Eye candy, Love…..georgous…..thanks for sharing. You deserve these beauties for sure, I totally get your joy.

  6. You are a brave person. Dying for an anthurium but worried I can’t meet the humidity requirements. I can’t fit anymore around the tub 😆

  7. "my god this is so much bigger than I expected"
I might have said that once or twice in my life😉. But that is one big waroqueanum. They're having a sale and it is a hell of a price on it, I am vacillating on if I should get one.

  8. Oh WOW Jeff!! 😍 They are all beautiful and almost look fake,… amazing!! Wishing you a safe, blessed, and Happy Thanksgiving! 😊

  9. Oooo yes, you finally dove into the velvety anthuriums! As someone who's spent way too much money on rare aroids, I don't blame you for waiting for prices to come down. Things were getting crazy there for a while with the prices. That warocqueanum x waterburyanum cross is still very high on my wish list. The Plant's Meow has a beautiful specimen of that hybrid. I'd recommend anthurium cirinoi as well. They have massive, dark, velvety leaves much like the queens do, and in my experience its a bit less fussy than my queens when it comes to humidity. I even have some waroc/cirinoi hybrid seedlings growing out, and they're already so beautiful.🥰 Anyways, I'm so excited to watch how these beauts grow in your care! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  10. Beautiful plants! Any one of those would make me happy but I'd never be able to keep it alive. May the Aroid gods be with you and your wonderful leaves!

  11. Yaaaay!!! I will be watching these , mine are all in an ikea cabnet and will need to transfer out to the real world someday when they outgrow it. Yours are so beautiful and my fingers are crossed for you!!

  12. Glorious veitchii! The queen and queen cross look beautiful and are HUGE! Those are some healthy aroids!
BTW: FWIW: I found that a 50/50 mix of long fibered sphagnum moss and specialty blend orchid bark (the stuff from lowes with charcoal in it) seems to work the best for me. When I tried to grow any of my anthuriums (magnificum, crystalinum) in any kind of potting mix they rotted. Once I moved them to the sphagnum/bark mix they did MUCH better.
The flamingo anthuriums you can pick up at the hardware store with the colored flowers I grow in straight up specialty blend orchid bark. They again, kept rotting in potting mix blends.
Those are absolutely beautiful! I would agree they are the best looking imports I've seen yet!

  13. Those are awesome! I’ve been looking at some of these on other Asian garden YouTube channels like “leafing around” for example did not think I could get access to those myself. I’ve got ideal humidity here in panhandle of Florida so think I could test a couple. Can’t wait to see how yours do. I’d also be scared to order and ship in colder times of year you are brave to get them this time of year. Happy Thanksgiving my friend

  14. Hi there! Hope they all survive. Nice plants and they did well for travel. Now is the proof in the pudd'n part. I suspect as Climate change gets worse, planters are going to come to a dead halt of ordering plants when coming anywhere near cold time. But you had intended to long have gotten them. Noth'n you can do. Like how the seller had added that extra layer of plastic over the paper wrapped leaves. The first plant you unwrapped I see losing a lot of leaves from that one.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND FAMILY AND A NEW YEAR. Take care now.

  15. Congratulations on your new beauties! ❤ I can’t wait to see how they do…

  16. The Queen realy is a queen 😅 mine came home looking beauteful, then it was a stump for 10 months 😅 hoping yours don't do what mine did!

  17. Beautiful plants only concern where you going to store them when they get huge? but there cool I love all the amazing plants you grow just a ahh at all of them.
