Gardening This Year Has Been Tough! 🌿🌸 A Realistic Permaculture Garden Tour & Flower Farm Update

This year has been tough…. it’s been a year of obstacles in the garden and probably the absolute worst time to start a flower farm with all of this crazy weather…. But it hasn’t stopped me trying! In today’s vlog I share a very realistic update of what’s growing in my permaculture garden and flower farm. I chat through what to grow in November, and share the good and the bad from the garden right now. Although it’s not where I wanted the flower farm to be, I’m still so incredibly proud of myself for achieving what I have this year. As gardeners, we’re all playing the patience game, and I for one, can get pretty over it quite quick haha. But slow paces make the best gardens, and I can’t wait to see how this will have all changed in another year. Hope you enjoy!

Hey there!

Welcome to my channel, The Nature Patch where I like to share all things gardening, cooking, environmental science and flower farming in my Australian bushland backyard in south coast NSW.

My name is Robyn, an environmental scientist working towards completing a PhD in understanding how people’s wellbeing and their connection to nature is impacted by land use change. I’ve always loved gardening and nature and lately have been interested in growing my own organic food!

On this channel you’ll find videos relating to garden tours, ‘how to’ videos, composting, soil health, ecosystem services, and seed saving.

I try to upload twice a week and I hope you enjoy!!

🤎 Filmed and edited on Yuin country. I acknowledge and pay respects to Traditional Owners of the land past, present and emerging. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.

  1. Hi Robyn there’s always something to do in the garden, not doing too much at the moment thanks for sharing take care ♻️🪱🥦💐🍓💚

  2. Oh honey I'm so sorry gardening this year has been tough, your still doing a wonderful job of looking after your garden🌸. Hugs❤️!

  3. Hi Robyn! Your garden is lovely, so many flowers. I struggle with those purple swamp hens. They pull out so many plants. They don't even eat them, just do it for the fun of it. They can pull pull nets off or poke their long beaks through the mesh. One thing they leave along is potatoes. I just harvested the best crop of potatoes I've ever grown. Was so proud of myself!

  4. Thanks for the video…looks absolutely beautiful there…we have snow ⛄️ already lol 😂…stay safe and take care !!

  5. I saved my strawberries from slug and bird attack this year by planting a wall of lettuce around them. The slugs went straight to the lettuce and ignored the strawberries.
I also go out most nights with a torch and pluck the slugs off the lettuce.
Ive had so much fruit this year its been amazing.

  6. Robyn your garden is looking abundant and way more under control than mine ever does lol. I'm starting to really feel the winter now so I'm wishing I was enjoying spring like you. I planted some snapdragons late this year, first time growing them and still enjoying their blooms now. Honestly love them so much so beautiful. I love your tall variety too, perfect for picking.
Loved this tour thanks for sharing xxx
