Distrust really reminds me of the game your turn to die
Seriously! If Distrusts ever gets released, I'd love to play it.
Slay the day away
Might sound like a weird or stupid idea, but if Danganronpa ever gets the "reboot" treatment, I want that reboot to be Distrust!
I really feel like some of Distrust’s elements would’ve made Danganronpa stronger. The concept of having multiple routes and being able to influence other characters feels like such a more natural direction for a murder mystery visual novel series. I also would much rather have a larger surviving cast by the end of the game than what we have currently. The final chapters are quite long in each game, and only having a few characters to listen to speak does get very tiring in these long chapters, especially in V3 where all the survivors have really low, mellow voices.
Having alternate routes would also add more repeatable elements to the game, and while you’d still end up reaching the point of seeing all outcomes, I think it’d feel more refreshing to replay with different outcomes, and it would also mean every character would get more adequate screen time, whereas the earlier chapter victims/killers are much easier to forget about by the time you’re nearing the end.
Overall there are definitely some aspects of the danganronpa we have that are stronger evolutions of the concept, like the style, but I’d say it’s pretty even in which changes were good and which ones weren’t.
Ngl I wish they did finish this and etc I would love to play it or smthn
I do think it's really interesting that they show the top three most voted for at the end of the trial, because in the Danganronpa games, the vote is unanimous basically every time. It makes me wonder — are the trials time-limited or is there another mechanic keeping the students from unanimously discovering the culprit? It seems that there's still the rule that the students must pick the correct culprit or they all die, so including the ranked voting system to me implies that they are less certain of the final verdict in comparison to the Danganronpa games, where they're given all the time necessary to discover the true culprit and how exactly they did committed the murder.
I agree with a lot of other commenters — I would loveee for this to be an actual game, or for someone to create it as a fangame. I never thought about the trust/distrust mechanic in this sense when I played VLR, but I really liked the decision-making and branching endings in that game, so I'd love to see someone recreate it with Danganronpa, whether it's the THH cast or a new original cast. (Hell, I'd do it myself if I had the skills.)
Slight spoilers I guess?
But another game idea I thought would be fun would be if like in that Nagito ova where Hajime had to do the phycho dive to wake Nagito up we have a game where we have to do it with his other classmates as well. Like each level is a different classmate and I always pictured it kinda like persona 5 palaces and as we go we find out more about the classmates and solve mind dive puzzles related to why they want to stay asleep. And maybe there is a side plot with the survivors bonding and/or maybe figuring out a way to revive Chiacki's AI?
I think it would be a fun spin off.
this gives me such corpse party vibes
Tbh with how big the IP is… we need Distrust now. Idk it really reminds me of gritty Japanese horror movies which was def the vibe. I know if this was the original IP, I would have no interest in Danganronpa so I’m glad it was changed. But now I want it lol. But also I am a sucker for branching paths
Why they do kirigiri like that
Y'all. If you want a dark mystery involving a death game, please play the Zero Escape games 🙏🏽
Oh yeah, I remember, it's been a year since I heard of the beta.
what if there's the best ending where everybody survives
I prefer distrust over danganronpa tbh
Is the photo at 19:06 in the link of the pastebin?
Distrust would've been super tricky to write. I think it'd be easy to accidentally create little contradictions or even big ones. Would still love to see something like it though.
bro if I was a game developer I’d try make distrust
For the “beta chihiro execution” segment, the person on the ground looks more similar to the girl present in trigger happy havoc’s trial explanation diagram
I'd love a sequel
I'd definitely be down for another vid talking about Distrust. The concept has always intrigued me ever since you brought it up all those years ago!
the discusting rooms and shared toilets would be intresting seeing in the cannon games
I wish to see more of DR Distrust, since all of this mystery of how the game's gonna look like and all that stuff is worth to watch and think.
I know people can say "but DR Distrust is the SAME as DR1".
Well, considering the alternative paths mechanic, then no, it cannot be 100% the same.
This beta game is complex in storytelling and is gonna be a lot of creative differences, but that's worth, including imagining those stages and all those stuff.
PD: i didn't expect my comment on Twitter is such a vital information, thank you 😳👍
I honestly really want them to do a game like this, they've talked about revisiting Danganronpa again and I think it would be really cool, albeit very difficult, to have a game that plays like Distrust.
10:40 Neagami shippers running over like 🏃♀️💨💨
I feel like it would be similar to Yttd idk—
From what I'm seeing, I think Chihiro was probably going to be the type of character that's pretending to be cute and innocent and is just awful/crazy. It's just the vibes I get from that glowy, cute cg of them saying "I didn't do it".
