Of Course It's A Great Time to Add a New Garden! #vevor



Despite some fast-approaching cold weather, it’s really quite a good time for us to work on our new cut flower garden. In this video, I’ll show you the raised beds and decorative features of the newly established growing space – and I’ll discuss some of our growing plans.

    Already thought about it myself with Giant California Zinnias. My project of gardening now is rooting fig cuttings which I must say are doing wonderful and a couple started to leaf out.

    I live in southern Alberta and sadly 5 of my 7 floribunda's did not survive last winter. I have had them for 6 or 7 years. I am wondering if winter killed them or if they have a lifespan. Being I had dirt with nothing growing in it I planted vegetables. With water being in such demand I have decided to give the 2 remaining roses to a friend in the spring and grow vegetables in their place too. I enjoy the roses but figure if I am using water maybe it is better to grow something edible, in this crazy world today.

    Wonderful addition to your presentation and overall look of the farm.๐Ÿ‘Œ
    You are so right about the perfect time for spring preparation. We have had this conversation a few times in other video comments about allowing the compost mixture time to go through its natural process. The winter months will be a perfect time for the new soil to develop uninterrupted or disturbed. I know many people who think that constant turning of the mulch is best, but over the years I've learned that once you mix the ingredients of your soil, that dormant decomposition time will allow all of the microbiology with insects, worms, and other beneficials to multiply and grow a healthy eco-system as well. So much life happens in the dead of winter that we never see.๐Ÿ˜‰
