I'm assuming rifles are easier to disarm than pistols because it's long and you can control it better with leverage. Awesome. Also also, guys that help with take downs of criminals, you have fist, please use them. The guy holding the gun can't punch him, but YOU can, make him let the gun go. He will 100% let it go if you're punching his face in while he has no control over the gun. There may be a time where just holding the guy down is not the best choice as he gets loose or can let a round off and shoot someone. I would rather have assistance beat the guy into submission 100% of the time because until he lets go of the gun, he's a deadly threat.
As far as the magazine and file charge itself it's bullcrap. New Yorkers should be allowed to have a standard mag and conceal carry and the fact we cannot is a violation of constitutional rights. Anyone being wacky like this drug addict can walk around New York and do this because they have criminal intent and 99% of us are unarmed on the street or at work. The problem here is that he shot a lady in the leg prior to this trying to rob her, that's a crime, he walked into a business to rob it and was threatening them. The problem is not that he had a gun or the mag size, let's not skip over that. If a Guard was armed possibly the criminal would have been full of holes instead which would be the criminals own fault; he literally show someone before this.

He's looking out the door the whole time. Why didn't he react BEFORE the gunman came in? There's no way the guard didn't see the firearm before the gunman came in the door because he isn't wearing anything that could conceal it effectively. I'm just glad no one was hurt during this altercation. Good job Mr Security Officer!
