Really looks good , hopefully you'll be able to keep the yard . Always hard losing a nice level property.
Nice videos how about you do a side by side with one of your other walkers to see how they compare
How's the deck baffles?
Great video are y’all gonna upgrade your debris loader next year
Greeting from Utah:) The way I get my lawns clean with my Walker Mowers is by double cutting. When I mow the second time I drop my deck height a .5 inch or .25 inch by adding washers to have a in between height. I wished walker did .25 inch heights. Anywho, of all the lawn guys on the YouTube, your videos are my favorite!!
Exmark navigator I cut at 2.5”
Spent my day, 7.5 hrs with me and my son on one job for leaves. 2 weeks ago same property 8 hrs and 3 loads in my 6×12 dump trailer with 8' tall sides. Today only 1 but we mowed and cleane up beds etc.
Hello Brandon & Ranae; I have experimented with just about every type of mower blades offered for my John Deere and usually prefer my commercial grade G6 Gator blades for mowing and grinding up the leaves. My complaint with the Gator/Predator style blades are that I usually do not like to use them earlier in the spring due to the very wet mowing conditions in which the serrated portion of the blades become pretty clogged with grass clippings which seems to defeat the purpose of using that style of blades – Otherwise I have been quite happy with the results. This fall I installed some high lift blades to see how they would perform. They seemed to mow really well, But I really didn’t like them for chopping up the fallen leaves because they slung out the leaves rather than cutting them up like the Gator/Predator blades seemed to do.
For my more rough mowing, I think that the standard low lift blades performed really well but the discharged material was not really chopped up much at all.
Strangely Enough, My old 682 Cub Cadet with a 44c mower deck with standard lift blades was the very best of all of my mowers for chopping up the leaves and rough mowing.
For the best mowing results, The blades needed to be really sharp or otherwise the Cub Cadet deck was terrible for leaving stragglers.
Although my results probably don’t relate much with the Wright or the Walker mowers that you have, I always side discharge and never bag anything. The yards that you feature in your videos always look so nice.
Many years ago, I used to mow in order to pay my tuition for my welding class at technical school. My experience in mowing served me well for my many years with the equipment section of the highway department in which I have worked on several different brands and types of mowing equipment.
That's pretty much my model average cleanup yard I do…. Pretty simple. Looks good… I would have handled it exactly the same. Like you did I will mow up the existing then add the bed and nook leaves onto the lawn to suck up…. If you blow them first it can be overwhelming for the walker. if there were more leaves I would have blown edges and beds first, bulldozed the bulk to front and then mowed up remainder
There is def something with your mower, The walker has always out performed anything I have used before … With the standard blades and I drop the deck to about 3" sometimes ever 2.75" I get amazing vacuum. There are times I have to make a second pass if I mow heavy leaves the first pass sometimes small pieces do get left behind, one more pass sucks the lawn clean. Only in the spring do I have leaves that may stick in the lawn and then I use the dethatcher. I usually start at 3.25 to suck the leaves and if I need that little extra suction I drop it to 3" and it is great. I would def lose the x blades because I told you before that was the problem I had with them years ago… too much turbulence with the extra blades and prob slows the blade tip speed down.
Place came out nice and clean 👌🏻😎 I imagine it was definitely a bitter sweet moment for sure. Hopefully the new people retain you.
Bitter sweet great job looks great. I'm sure the new owners hire you guys.
You guys do such a professional job I love your videos 🙌🏽
I'd say try doing a cleanup without the x blades on the walker and see what happens
Good morning Brandon and Ranae! That yard came out GREAT! I can't imagine the new owners of the home going with anyone else. You ALWAYS do a beautiful job and your work speaks for itself. Hopefully the new owners watch your videos to see the care and professionalism you guys give every yard. Best of luck on keeping this property! God bless.
Remove the X blade. Your suction should improve. The second blade is simply creating added turbulence under the deck that's messing around with the suction capabilities.
That turned out really nice. It's great seeing that completely refurbished machine tackling jobs like that one. The groovy music was a nice touch
Nice cleanup 😊
The pink walker works amazing!!!
I run the same stander x and a walker like you guys. I run the walker at 3” in the front and 2.5” in the rear for leaves and it makes a world of difference picking up all the fine debris. But like you I like to use the stander on the final pass as it looks cleaner and I like the stripes better. Btw I’m a fellow south shore mass hole as well lol
New owner will be calling y'all back to keep that yard 👀 great leave your info for the new owners
Ive been doing this since 1995, believe it of not I still have customer number 1. Ive had many move outs and persons dying. Its tough.
As far as the Walker goes I have a few things, Yes the height is the big reason along with speed of the machine going over the lawn. I am in KY Blue/Blue Fescue/Rye like you. My final cuts with the walker are in the third hole down. No additional spacers on the pins.
I mostly will use my Toro Z with Atomic Blades to mulch most of the time then finish off with the Walker as we have curbside pickup but I never take a leaf off site at any of my properties and I have some yards like you do. The other thing I will say is that if you are using Versimow blades you are creating a bunch of turbulence under the deck to more or less mulch instead of bag. That little gap with is now filled with 2 additional blades. My advise to you is to try lowering the deck on your property and see what happens. Also do side by side comparisons with both of your Walkers. I know you guys love the finished look however some leaf material down at the growth line can actually be a good thing. By spring most of my lawns are completely free of any leaf debris as it decomposes into dirt and nutrients for the lawn.
As far as blade tip speed goes I am thinking the Versimows may bog it even more which also makes the case for comparison testing and maybe even checking how fast you are going over the lawn. I know you guys are busy but if you find time do some testing.
