115+ HOYA TOUR with Steve's Leaves — Ep. 296

When I first started purchasing plants from Steve’s Leaves many years ago—I was mainly interested in his Peperomia. He didn’t have a large collection of hoyas, but since the interest in hoyas have grown, the team over at Steve’s Leaves have increased their hoya selection by A LOT! In this episode, we cover over 115 Hoya types (along with some other bonus plants), so this episode is packed to the gills with hoyas—from beginning to end.

Additionally, Steve’s Leaves is generous to give our viewers 15% off their orders with the code SUMMERRAYNE15, which you can also access by heading over to https://www.stevesleaves.com/summerra…. Auction, sale, and what you see is what you get items do not qualify.

  1. He is more
knowledgeable with Hoyas rather than Anthuriums from your previous video.

  2. Hoya AH-074 is a cultivar of Hoya Carnosa, and comes from AH Hoya Nursery in Thailand

  3. Diptera means two wings. That one hoya has two opposite leaves so I guess that's why it's named that way

  4. It would be neet to se what kind of colour produce orange flowering at night hoya, under uv or moonlight.

  5. That variety of Curtisii is called Curtisii Thai, at least in Australia. It has the wider and splashier leaves the other smaller leaved form is the Philippines form.

  6. I would like one of each please. I went the their website and almost all of them are sold out😢🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄💚🙃

  7. These varieties are gorgeous! I'd love to visit one day!.. I'm just starting to add Hoyas into my collection. Begonia plants are amazing too.. Such a beautiful paradise. I cant wait to start getting my hands on more hoya plantsl lol. Thanks for sharing summer. Always so great to see you! 🌱

  8. Amazing video I am falling in love with Hoyas more and more ❤so many textures styles shapes and patterns

  9. As a plant lover in the UK
It’s interesting to see some of the different Hoyas in Steve’s Leaves
    There’s definitely a difference in
what people grow and sought after
Jealous of the dischidias as well
It’s so hard to find them here in the UK❤

  10. MRS OAKES MY AIRCRAFT DESIGN MUST SHOWS TO PRESS BY US ADMINISTRATION ON DECEMBER 2 OF 2022.IT'S CALLED B-21 RAIDER BOMBER.

  11. As someone who is waiting for my Hoya Compacta to grow, its good to see what it will look like in a few decades (slight exaggeration)

  12. MRS OAKES GURKEN;WE ARE BOMBING AT US MEDIA AUDIENCE THE AMERICAN MEDIA LOVES OUR;WE ARE IMPROVING OUR GOALS.

  13. Ciao Summer, grazie a te ho conosciuto Torill Nyhuus in tuo video a casa sua, poi in persona a Bologna…. volevo ricordarla come grande conoscitrice delle Hoya e come persona… 🙏❤️

  14. Flies are called Diptera because they only have one pair of functional wings. My guess is that Hoya has a similar name because how it's wings resemble a pair of wings (perhaps fly wings)

  15. Thank you so much for the tour 🙏 I just recently got into Hoya and I already have a few. However I'm oversensitive to scents, so I'm trying to stick to species whose flowers don't have a scent or have just a mild one that doesn't fill the room. Of all those hoyas the callistophylla is at the top of my wishlist. I already have the sp. 'Gunung Gading' which is kind of similar, but not really.

  16. Oh no! I cant watch this video 👀🤭 my wishlist will be to long after this video😅🤣

  17. Hoya macrophylla "pot of gold" is now officially classified also as Hoya Latifolia, so a green version of it would be hoya Latifolia long leaves. They have the same flowers and scent.

  18. Hoyas…
Living here in Texas, (near Austin) we have lots of outdoor plants with similar Hoya characteristics.
So I may have had some Hoya in the past and not even known it.

But what I'm wondering today is this:
    Are Hoya plants carbon sequestering?

I have the Elephant Bush – Portulacaria afra, which is said to take carbon from the air and return it to the soil.
It's a lot like a succulent, and maybe it IS a succulent?
    (But that's not my point!)

Anyway, I am just wondering if Hoyas are carbon sequestering too.
I tried to Google that question, but was bombarded with lots of other information instead.
