What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but loose his soul. Put God first in you life brother and that he is in everything you do. At the end of our lives we can’t take anything with us! It's only 15% margin because of your debt. It should be 25% margin minimum net. Gross (before operational costs – should be 32% margin or higher).
For the record, spread sheet wise, you've posted close to $50,000 or more in mistakes this year alone. Way, way too high. This is what happens when you trust other people to run your jobs and their income isn't tied to job performance.
My foreman get a base hourly pay, well under the industry average around $27 an hour. Plus 20%-30% of the profit margins off each job. If the forman makes a $5,000 mistake, they pay for their mistake through the bonus. Obviously the mistake will lower the jobs profit margin as well as their bonus. My guys rarely ever make a costly mistake. A mistake was made about 3 years ago…we don't make too many mistakes because the foreman would have to pay for it themselves.
You've motivated me to change my YouTube channel to a landscape channel here in Silicon Valley as well.
I won't be giving anything other than building code based knowledge away. So there's no reason to join a club and then charge hundreds of dollars just for my opinion. I'll provide a plethora of where to get industry information and actual landscape knowledge.
By the way, it's against California Building code to install all those PVC pipes in one bunch in the trench. Building code requires "2 inches of space between each pipe.
