We started at the Nanataki Trailhead of Mt. Iwate and went up to the Ojigokudani junction. It was about 12km round trip.

  1. Why is Chris always wearing inappropriate footwear? Although, fair play – he has cheekbones again!

  2. Thank you for sharing your mountain hiking adventures. When I do get to visit Japan, I won’t be able to make any of these hikes. My physical disabilities simply won’t permit it. So, I live vicariously through you, Quinlan, & others like Chris. Maybe you could come up with & show us, hikes that would be mindful of disabled folks. I use a cane on good days, a walker on bad days. Thanks!

  3. why doesnt this guy get the views he deserves .. such an amazing channel and an even more amazing person

  4. Chris trying to do an impression of Quinlan sounded like a Dane speaking English, and I don't know how to feel about that 😛

  5. You know, the funny thing is, I have a big fear of heights, but mountains don't seem to trigger it. A sheer cliffside would, but a very slanted mountain side wouldn't. If anything, I'd know I could slide down on my feet if necessary. The interesting part is that climbing a small tree would trigger my heights worse.

Not sure why. Just not bothered if I'm not off the ground.

  6. Absolutely incredible content, it’s the first time your channel appeared for me! I used to try this kind of stuff ten years ago when I came to Japan but have been playing it safe since 🥲Subbed!

  7. Sorry I'm late but it looks like you took Nicholas Pettas and friends up the mountain. 🙂

So this is the sort of thing I missed out on by not getting ahold of you earlier. Sorry about that!

  8. I live in Oregon, USA so hiking is a part of living here. Now I want to bring my hiking backpack when I return to Japan instead of my travel backpack! Which is making me rethink all of my packing because I am a carry-on only kind of traveler.
Shoe-wise, would my Nike Pegasus trail with Goretex likely be ok? They are perfect for every day wear or keeping in the car for the random drive off hike and I don't usually wear normal hiking shoes…I guess the best way to find out is for me to pick a few hikes here with rocky inclines. 🙂 I have some Wildhorse shoes as well – I used to always hike in Frees which is of course, awful to anyone wanting any support or grip whatsoever and the amount of rocks that got stuck in them was insanity but I apparently enjoyed the challenge. I've also done hikes in tall hunter rain boots so really, I just make up my own rules! Moment of silence for my ankles.

Thanks for sharing this video! Really making me rethink future visits!

  9. Thanks to following Chris's channel i've just discovered your channel and thrown you a sub.
Never would have believed when I woke up this morning I was going to discover the Bob Ross of mountain climbing.
    Most excellent cheers.

  10. Thanks for sharing your video of this incredible looking area! Hopefully Chris will get hiking boots eventually…
It looks quite scary to me, well done to everyone!
