DIY for Resale – Day 10: How to Bleach Dipped Flannel Shirts – Thrifted & Upcycled 4 Flannel Shirts

I recently thrifted several flannel shirts from the Goodwill Bins. I’ve been wanting to try the Ombre bleach technique on flannels for a while now, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity and take you guys along while I attempt this DIY!

I absolutely love how the shirts turned out, but I don’t think I got a true ombre look. I think if I left the bottom in a bit longer that would have created more of that effect. I’m definitely going to be collecting a bunch of flannels and have them available at Cranberryfest next year!

How do you guys think this project turned out?

A huge shout out to my daughter for modeling the shirts for the video!

As a thank you to all my viewers, I’m hosting A few of my Favorite Things Customer Appreciation Challenge. 2. I love the video been wanting to do this I have put kitchen towels with saying's on them on the back of some flannels loving them has to be thin towels cut them to fit with frayed edges I used stich witchery and put buttons at each corner.

  3. The shirts came out so cute, thanks for sharing your first try. I'll be on the lookout for cotton flannel shirts in my area thrift stores, they've been hard to find this year. Your daughter is a great model!

  4. Those shirts look really cute on your daughter but this old lady….not so much. I love your idea to wear them at your family gathering.

  5. It's so refreshing that you are willing to try new things! Your daughter is beautiful and the shirts looked so cute on her.

  6. Loved the multi colored shirt results. They seemed to fade and blend better. They all turned out nice.

  7. These shirts are so cool. Like how they turned out. This would be a good flip for resale. I would definitely try to get a few listed on your site. Something that is easily done that isn't labor intensive. Can be done while doing something else.

  8. They turned out awesome! My favorite is the last one, top is red and bottom is pink! Love this idea I'm definitely going to try it! Thanks for showing us how! 🥰

  9. It was great seeing you try this for the first time. You are so creative and adventurous! Your daughter looked great in them. She’s such a cutie!

  10. My husband steals my upcycling shirts too! This is a really fun craft. Try dipping the bottom first then once it begins to change (can tell best by the color left in the bleach), then slowly put more of the shirt into the bleach solution so the upper sections get less bleach. It's very hard to see the color change till the shirt comes out of the wash. You can tell by the dye residue in the bleach basin. You can also use a spray bottle to do this technique. Put your shirt on a metal hanger out on the clothesline. Spritz the shirt more at the bottom, gradually lessen the spritzing as you move up.

  11. Oh my goodness… They turned out great. What can't you you do. Lol… Just love watching all of your ideas. Merry Christmas Sonnet. 😊❤

  12. The shirts are very cute. I think the part bleached looked the same and not ombré. Still so cute.
