Pricing Garden Maintenance a Different Way!

Pricing garden maintenance jobs is hard. I have talked about pricing jobs at length on my YouTube channel as well as giving examples of how I’ve actually priced work. This time I decided to do this a little bit differently. So I run my gardening business on my own, which leaves me solely responsible for making all of the decisions! Sometimes it’s fun to play around with how you do things, and this is what I’ve done here.

  1. If you end up doing very large multi acre gardens, you will likely end up just working at a day rate and doing what you have time for managing the various task over the year. Often working at different areas bit by bit.

No different to this really, as long as the price is sensible and the clients expectations reasonable then nothing wrong.

  2. Sounds just like me & my brother in 1985 !! You have to think quickly on your feet according to the situation in front of you. Once you have shown that you can deliver in the way you set out,you become trusted & the spin offs come in. Followed you from the start, it's more difficult on your own as you've no one to share with. I've been lucky, it's always & even now been working with my brother. As long as you do what you're paid to do & maintain quality, & enjoy your work the money will follow you.

  3. For SOME customers I do what I feel is right as oppose to what is right for business at the time. I think this is the approach you took and its paid off for you. So we'll done👍

  4. These kind of job are handy for sure, I used to have a few small 2hr jobs that I would do hourly rate for but then realised it's better to stick at a set price and do what you can with what time you have.

  5. This winter tidy ups I priced hourly as I have visited the customers two or three times which each visit over £100. If I have them one set price I might not have got them
Now I have them like you said for the summer £30 each. Sometimes if you take a few quid off you will gain more

  6. It can be funny how new jobs can work out 1 small job can lead top 5 jobs that last a life time
Always follow ya gut and ya heart mate watch out for the A holes that are always looking for the cheap option and try to cut corners at your expense and see it as its " just cutting the grass and hedges " lol there's some real dirt bags out there
