  3. Looking at my beautiful camellias while you talk about them is a nice cold morning treat! I have had a terrible time getting new camellias established in my garden (this is normal), but I inherited two from the previous owners that are mature and beautiful. I will keep trying because I do want some that bloom later in the year. ❤️

  4. Love this info! I have 3 Camellias and will be getting a new one in 2023. I plan on getting a new one every year. Love them. 2 of mine are blooming now: Newly purchased October Magic Orchid, full of pink blooms and October Magic White Shi Shi, also in bloom now. I love floating their flowers in little glass bowls of water. 7B MS.

There is anursury tow ours away from my house has many colors of Camellias like the same flower has tow colors .It's amazing … l will go and buy . Have awonderful day .🌻🎄🌻

  6. My aunt was able to air layer her pink perfection camellia. This gave her a bigger size baby camellia a lot faster than cuttings. I really want a pink or white camellia japonica in my garden

  7. This is a very informative review of Camillas. I can tell you that rooting and growing Camillas is a labor of love. My Grandparents moved into a house of a Master Gardener that had a collection of Camillas. He said some had come from a friend in Japan. I was able to root a double pink. I now live in the house I grew up in and my Camilla is now as tall as the house. I thought I lost it in the winter snowstorm of 2020 but it is still recovering and this year it is loaded with blooms and two are now opening. This just proves how slow they grow. Have a wonderful day.

  8. Great video Janey! I’m pushing the limits of Camellias in zone 6a, WNY. I’m definitely jealous of your climate & mild winters!
The sasanqua types bloom better for me because they flower as soon as the nights cool off, whereas japonicas flower buds seem to die at some point during winter. Camellias fit in really well in my tropical garden.
I like to plant bigger shrubs to begin with because a bigger shrubs has more mass and can withstand cold better than a 1 gallon. And springtime planting is best too, because they have all summer to grow and get established.

  9. Unfortunately we dont have that one here
Me and my friends keeping an eye for that plant to come out here in canada so we could get one even for a housplant i say.were very cold here and someimes can go down to minus 35 during winter.i live in zone 6b but i love yours and I think it is such a beautiful and add joy during winter months.anyway i always enjoy your garden tour. Thank u janey.

  10. Great information! Thank you. I need to go look for a protected area in my yard where I can grow a Camilla or two! 🌸M

  11. We moved here last year and yes I literally thought ours were roses the first time I saw them. 😂but I kept saying I’ve never seen roses quite like these. I’ve learned so much since then. They are the most beautiful part of an otherwise dull season. Ours are as tall as the house and bright red. I’m guessing they are the japonica, they are perfectly symmetrical, and the shiny glossy leaves. It’s my profile pic here on YouTube 😊Thanks Janey!

  12. I just grabbed one of these because of you! Excited to watch & ALSO watch my camellia bloom this month. My leaves have some white speckling so I’m trying to determine if this is early powder mildew.
