Trying the Shortest Distance Shinkansen in Japan | Nagasaki to Takeo-Onsen

I tried the brand new Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen from Nagasaki to Takeo-Onsen. It’s the shortest distance Shinkansen in Japan.

  1. That Ekiben looked heavenly. Two !! means it must have been really good. I love how you describe what you eat, sweet, not spicy, etc. Can't wait until I travel to your country. Thank you for this video.

  2. Nice! Honestly I prefer scenery over speed any day. For me getting there is half the fun. Japan has beautiful scenery! And the beef was beautiful scenery as well!

  3. Be nice you do journey videos by renting a car so new travellers can see what cars are like and how drivers are reactive in Japan

  4. Really enjoying your video's the Nagasaki station looks beautiful nice and big and modern and the shinkansen is amazing as always and the express train looks great also, wish we had that in Australia

  5. I think I prefer scenery over speed, cause if I've got something to look at, time just passes so fast anyway…

That ekiben, I recognized pickled ginger, lotus roots, and… onion slivers?

  6. I must say, if I was commuting by train, that extra half hour every day would be invaluable…but the scenery from the express was just beautiful. Yours is an absolutely gorgeous country!!! And so was that lunch…mmmm shortribs. My one true love. Never mind men, give me beef.

  7. I could probably mack down 2 of those Bentos. Mmmm… That looked absolutely delicious! I'd have to take a nap after eating 2 Bento Boxes. Train looked clean. The shitter was clean. Nice place to go if you need.

  8. actually I can't imagine how fast the Japanese train is even though it's very stable and comfortable inside but at high speed it should have a slight tremor but this is almost non-existent so I'm quite amazed at how hard Japan works to build something so powerful and advanced so I'm quite satisfied when traveling , because the price is already expensive so what is given is very satisfying

  9. The no soap was bad, I hope that it was a mistake. The food however looked very good, I enjoyed it vicariously thru you 😸

  10. Noticed that the ribs on the ceiling is shaped like seagulls. A very nice touch and attention to details😁👍

  11. We used it last week 😅 Fukuoka to Takeo- Onsen ( with the Van ten Bosche train ) and ten with te Shinkansen 🙂

  12. In all my trips to Japan (about 9 or 10), I always thought the shortest distance Shinkansen was Osaka to Kyoto or Shinagawa to Tokyo, either of those two…

  13. I love scenery. I will even leave earlier to take a different route I havnt been on before just to see the landscapes. I think I would be very sad if I went to Japan and rode a train that I couldn't see anything but walls out my window. But I would be a tourist. People who live and work in Japan care about time. So of course the faster train would be the way to go.

  14. I got to travel on the Kishu Railway in Gobo, the second shortest railway in Japan next to the one under Narita airport. Short trips can be every bit as interesting as long ones.

  15. It is a difficult choice: speed or view, if nothing else is a deciding factor.
That meal looked delicious! I am glad you had time to enjoy it,
    Thank you, as always.

  16. I loved the route of the old Kamome Limited Express. It went a completely different route along the Ariake Sea between Kohoku and Isahaya. Much greater scenery and loved going along the coastline. The "view" from the Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen looks positively depressing. In the end, it's no faster than the limited express, and if they haven't even decided what route it's going to take from Takeo Onsen to Hakata, it will not be shortening any time soon. Hugely disappointing (the decision, not your video – that's enjoyable as always).

  17. Everything looks so clean and modern in Japan, I really enjoy that. People seem to take more pride in their public spaces as e.g. in Europe. Many thanks for the video, lovely landscape btw on the way to Hakata.

  18. Wow, that train was fast! What were the mountains in the background over the walls? I definitely prefer the slower train because of the scenery, but I would like the seats in the Seco! Thank you for taking me on the ride.

  19. Speed or scenery? I suppose it depends on how long your journey is. If its short the time difference between the 2 is small. BUT if your journey is several hundred miles/kilometers the time difference could easily be 1 hour or more. Plus there is the question of cost. Slow & cheap or quick and expensive!?!?

  20. Scenery or speed? The more often I travel to a given destination, the more I will tilt towards speed. For example, I don't want to see the sights on my way to work, I just want to get there and get it over with.

  21. I wonder how long someone could work in that station, hearing ‘bing bong’ every few seconds, before they would go on a crazy murder rampage

  22. Well, not every video goes perfectly! Sometimes you get full trains and walls! Great video none the less 😊

  23. i prefer scenery to speed. i love looking out the window and seeing everything. the ekiben looked sooooo goood!!! i would've bought a couple more for the trip lol.

  24. It's never too short to enjoy an ekiben! — even if it was between one train and the next, haha!

  25. Got to try the Kamome Shinkansen for the first time two weeks ago too. JR Kyushu has done a really nice job all round. Going to try Gran Class for the first time tomorrow, can’t wait!
