White Christmas in NTX? Weather changes coming. Update!

Big weather changes coming in the next 10 to 14 days. A conglomerate of storms and possible winter weather. We are enjoying it for now getting everything planted and settled. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a white Christmas here in Texas? Also an update on the mushroom coffee and my ability to get off regular coffee.

  1. Please don't take this wrong because I mean no harm. I moved from Ohio to the DFW area in 2019. My daughter lives here…I wanted to be closer to her. The mild winters here were just a bonus. But the deep freeze of 2021 was more reminiscent of Ohio than I ever care to experience again. If I never saw snow again, I would be one very happy old lady. lol.

  3. Christmas in 2 weeks, hard to believe!! Something is eating the leaves on my Swiss chard dad gum it. Have a good weekend Jill!!

  4. Hope ya’ll have a wonderful Christmas, praying your crops do good. Trust in the Lord and he protect us all. Amen

  5. The 2021 snowpocalypse ruined me on enjoying snow. I've been organizing our Lights Out gear. We filled our propane tank this week. I put our chicken compost on our raised bed, added aged coffee grounds and still need to add our goat bedding. Our soil is in a major rebuilding phase. Love your high tunnel. Have a Merry Christmas. Pray, Plan, Prep

  6. I had a lot of success by simply completely covering the pepper plants with dry fall leaves. Though I did uncover some for a few sunny-hours in-between freezes & it was a mistake as the ones left covered were far less harmed by the additional freezes.

With damaged tissue it's almost quicker to make clones with fresh roots & no excessive damage. You can identify how much damage the plant might have by how large the leaves are in comparison to a seedling, the older damaged plant will be producing fewer cells & display small-mature-leaves (a bonsai condition). My damaged plants were disappointedly-slow to recover-&-produce, as things grow quickly in my yard-waste-garden-soil.

  7. Hi Jill🥰 we certainly do know Who holds our future. I did 5 half pints of pineapple and 3 pints and 3 half pints of chicken on Thursday, and finished 8 small bottles of limoncello. Our Winco had boneless, skinless chicken breast for 1 48#, so I got a package. This is the 3rd time I've done, and probably the last canning I'll do for some time. My house needs attention so am going to concentrate on that and getting rid of things to make things manageable!! Nice weather I set boxes of free out for those who want. The thrift stores all think they are boutiques now with their pricing..I'd rather let people just take!! I pray for our country to heal and turn back to God, I think that is part of our problem!! I pray you and yours have a blessed Christmas season and stay wrll. Thanks for all of your wonderful videos. Love and best wishes. God bless.

  8. I've been loving this weather. I'm not ready for the cold and after the heat of this summer, it's been nice being able to go out without roasting or freezing.

  9. The price of the compost has me a little shell-shocked! I really DO have a goldmine in my compost piles! Makes keeping chickens even more appealing.
I wonder if throwing a handful of earthworms in your tunnels might be a good thing? They'd maybe mix up all that dark goodness? I keep finding them in my bags and beds where I've taken compost from my pile, and I think my soil is looking better than it ever has before.
I'm making sure all my power, lighting and heat backups are all set to go. Like so many others have said, the snowpocalypse of '21 left a lasting impression.
Y'all be well. Love and hugs.

  10. Inspirational words to live by. Jill you're planting good seeds for us all, and not just the plant kind. 😉❤

  11. Thanks, Jill!…Had to come back- have you heard of- Tim Janis, here on YT? I can sit and listen to this music, all day!

  12. You are so appreciated. I wondered what the organic compost would do to a budget so thanks for that. Prayer, time in the word yes—time with family, yes, but that is also the stress of this season for this year. Thank you for your encouragement.

  13. Please keep me in your prayers , my health is not good right now and I am fighting it .
The high tunnels look good . Yum peppers . I hope they make it through winter.

  14. …and we know who holds our hand. I love that song. I have to remind myself that I know who holds our future, especially these days. I saw your short. I've tried celery the past three years and have had no luck. What is your secret? I just figured it couldn't be grown in this area. I can't wait for those cooking video's. Have a great weekend. Vickie

  15. I'm still battling with aphids and ants. My peppers are doing great, lettuce is another story, some good and some not so good…..its the heat and I know it…….December 10th and I'm having to run my A/C…..ugh! No relief. Looking forward to somewhat cooler temps next week. Y'all have a wonderful weekend.

  16. Hey Jill! What kind of mushroom coffee are you using? I would like to get off regular coffee but I am hesitant to try something so different. But you make it sound so good.

  17. The aphids really are enjoying life around here, my milkweeds are full, I keep hoping for a freeze so the plant can die and I can cut them back.. but for now they’re still flowering. Did you get any of the Asian beetle swarms this past week? There’s quite a few out in my area and they’ve been helping with the aphids. Which got me wondering, would some lady bugs help in your green house? Or is that a big no-no? I’m looking forward to the cold, Id be okay with 0° if we can just get some sunshine, my indoor plants aren’t happy.

  18. Good morning Jill. We are supposed to get a bit of snow this afternoon into tomorrow. Then we are watching a potential winter storm to come thru at the end of next week. I’ve been plotting out next year’s garden, and starting to think about what seeds and starts I will need. I think we are going to try and add a total of 6 raised bed and keep a couple of in ground rows for beans and onions. I am getting anxious about having enough firewood to get thru the winter. I’ve been told we have enough based on the cord/heating oil comparison estimates, but I can’t help but worry. I hope you and Greg have a wonderful day!

  19. I absolutely love listening to a girl name Charity Gayle. Her voice alone gives me chills, but you can feel God's presence when she's singing. I have been extremely stressed lately, so thank you for reminding me to basically Let go and Let God!! God Bless you and your family. Praying that the storms won't be bad for y'all. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

  20. I have a question about my garlic that I planted in November. I checked it today and it has sprouted and I fear it is going to freeze this week. Will it kill it?This is my first year to try to grow garlic and I am not sure what to do.

  21. I believe you about the soil. Where do I find out the recipe for good container soil? I really want to be working on it.

  22. Yes it looks like Tuesday will be our last day in the 70's then be highs in the 50's thru end of year. No white christmas for us near Georgetown I will be suprised if it happens. LOL!! Our son and family are coming down south for Christmas and our daughter and her familly live here already so we will have a big Christmas with them and their Grandpa.

  23. Hey Jill it's been 80 here the last few days, crazy. Rochelle and I are really excited about Christmas. We have been reading the bible and the story of Christ. 2023 is going to be a mess and we need to be ready. We are already starting seeds and are planting more than ever in the spring. The freezer is almost full of game. We got two deer and some wild turkey. Next week we are duck hunting. I don't film our hunting trips on our channel, it's just something we don't want to do. Thanks for the video and God Bless. Mike
