yeah I think every plant owner goes through that. you get in this frenzy of propagating everything then realize, just love and take care of what you already have. propagate in moderation is my motto now…just got to get over the excitement of buying new plants and unboxing (everyone has their weakness I guess lol)
So different seeing you without your rings π
My perlite box was doing well in the summer but with the autum/winter everythings has rooted. Do you think is because is was too cold? Do you think it would be doing well again if I add a heat mat? πΏ
so nice <3
My experience with Scindapsus (and I grow a lot of them) is that they don't like soil. I get the best results growing them in pon in self-watering system. So if you're having a problem with a Scindapsus and wanted to try something else with them I highly recommend pon.
Oooh you should just continue to pot wet sticks and props into small pots but filled with perlite instead of having a big box of perlite. That way you can label the pots and know exactly what you have!
That second majestic looks like mamei. 1 first and 3rd are majestic.
Thank you for sharing your prop box progress with us Fern π it's cool to see what works and what doesn't I need to set one up.

Are you going to try Stratum?
wish i lived close! iβd take the dubia!π π
So random thing lol I had to keep on propagating scindapsus because they kept getting root rot no matter what I did. SO…… I have been growing them for about 8 months now in just perlite and I now have 4 VERY healthy looking plants AND I only add fish fertilizer and super thrive. Not only that but they are growing leaves instead of vines. I will no longer use anything but perlite for these plants… kind of makes me wonder if that might be the trick to plants prone to root rot?…. maybe a tai constellation?
ππ΄ππ¦
Does boiling the perlite remove the green color from the algae, or is the perlite stained green?
can you show us your process of boiling and reusing potting media?
Fern: "Philodendron Majestic are just sooo…"
me: "MAJESTIC?!?"
Fern "… Beautiful!!"
EVERY TIME! π€£
Hi Fernβ¦.have you ever considered using Leca?β¦.great channel!
This is silly but it made me happy seeing someone crack their knuckles. I get so much shit for doing it π
I keep a pen clip with I dry erase sharpie on my prop boxes so every time I add something I can just scribble it really quickly on the lid. When I remove that plant I just wipe it off π
I do the same! I throw wet sticks and cuttings in a moss prop box and when they grow, I transfer them into their own little pots and then into another empty prop box with a lid for humidity. Just to get the babies growing and stronger
As the words came out of your mouth the other day it like went in the low toned slowmo sound βas long as I donβt get thrips.β I was like noooo knock on wood fern! π
Seriously tho Iβm worried! I donβt want you to have to deal with all these bugs and I donβt want you to lose a bunch of plants π I really hope this isnβt leading up to a tragedy. π’
I swear I think I seen an adult thrip on my new plant yesterday. And Iβve never dealt with them so Iβm worried! Will safers end all work!?

Loved it. It's so satisfying to see roots when we are propagating. I like the look of how it looks at the end. Your plant babies are adorable β€οΈ
