  1. I settled into the Amish paste as our paste tomato several years back. Large fruit, prolific. Also its indeterminant so you don't get bombarded with canning tomatoes all at once – something important after age 60. We grow Brandywine as our "slicing" tomato and Sweet 100 cherry. We then pick one "fun" tomato. Last year Cherokee purple. Next year looks like Kellogg Breakfast…although we're still studying.

  2. Heirloom seeds will provide you with seeds for next year. Some Hybrids may not have seeds that may not puduce fruit. You will have a nice bush but no tomatoes!

Cherry tomatoes are great producers and work great for salads!

  3. Cherokee Purple taste nasty, my mother loved them and my dad gave me some plants last year. 100% chicken food because they never look ripe. Bugs love them so mine always had holes in them.

One my dad likes is "Long Keepers" they store well. He puts them in a paper box under the sink. He said they last about a month!

  4. I just received 8 inches of snow yesterday 😟 mid April is planting season for me. I don't grow any tomatoes because I primarily buy imported tomatoes from Italy and always keep a big supply on hand 😀

  5. I have grown Roma, San Marzano and Amish Paste. Hands down, here in southeastern Michigan, Amish Paste has been most prolific. I love the flavor for everything from fresh eating to canning every kind of tomato product.

  6. Surprised you didn’t get the Sungold!! Best cherry tomato I’ve ever had. I’ve grow it every year for about 10 years now. Tastes like sweet candy.

  7. I only grow Amish paste for slicing and storage and them I have an heirloom grape that I can't remember the name of but I save the seeds every year and it is by far my favorite snacking tomato, I live in Wisconsin also and they do very well

  8. search top 10 favorite tomatoes, Black Krim is always in the list. My daughter grew Marmade tomatoes, wow, flavor is superior.

  9. I’m glad I’m not the only one who obsessively hits the “x” on the website terms and agreements instead of just accepting them.

I love your channel, you inspired me to get chickens. So now I own 5 girls and ordered chicks for the spring.

  10. Great video, I am new to gardening and needed a seed company recommendation. I just ordered from Johnny’s after watching your video. Trying the super sweet 100.

  11. This series will be epic. Exactly what I’m looking for. 1st year buying seeds of any kind- have johnnys, high mowing organic seed catalogs. I’ll be with ya straight through. Any community comments tips n tricks offered are 💯 welcome!

  12. Yes I also drive my hubby nuts when I have to many browser tabs open! 😂 I tell him I was going back to them! 😂
