HOME TOUR | Inside an Architect’s Vibrant Spanish Colonial Style Home seen in Architectural Digest

SHOP THIS EPISODE HERE: https://bit.ly/GhislaineViñas

This week @designerhometours, we visit an extensively restored Craftsman/Spanish Colonial style historic property built in 1895 in the Los Feliz neighborhood of L.A. known as the Cummings Estate.

We sat down with both the interior designer Ghislaine Vinas as well as the homeowner and architect, Chet Callahan. This home was previously featured in Architectural Digest and is full of amazing art and antiques. This home tour is a great example of how to design a modern home while preserving historic architectural details, as well as how to decorate with color.

In this home tour (full of some 2023 interior design trends, even though it was completed a few years ago), we dive deep into how to design a custom rug and how to choose the perfect dining room chairs. The juxtaposition of new and old creates a bold and vibrant home like you’ve never seen.

  1. The architect did such a crazy and amazing job with this old lady. Because must people would just tear it down and built new. I love everything that they did, The color palette the different used of new and old furniture is perfect. And they are lucky to have that much acre of land in Los Feliz.

  2. The overall style is not to my taste, I don’t know why, it just comes across too synthetic but it looks cool and fun.

  3. Love it except for the Oprah art. that'll get old quickly. Otherwise so fun and colorful!

  4. Everything about this — every thoughtful detail — is dreamy. What a charming and enchanting home from charming and enchanting people.

  5. I love the house but can’t stand the kitchen. It looks like the reception room / meal room in an office suite. Awful……. Other parts of the home are simply stunning. I wish the kitchen had a personality……

  6. I love how well the bones have been restored. The kitchen addition is a little too stark for me( and I lean modern in my taste). The style is overall too quirky for me but I can’t deny that it’s definitely a fun space and I would love to go to a party there.

  7. Absolutelly beautiful and joyfull. There's that minimalist, Scandinavian thing, etc, but the colors are allowed and very well used.
