Front Yard Garden

How to Build a Greenhouse | Post and Beam

Make your own Post & Beam Greenhouse with twin wall polycarbonate glazing and a poured concrete foundation. This timber frame style Western Red Cedar post & beam greenhouse has a base that’s 10 feet by 12 feet. I cover all the carpentry and construction of this garden greenhouse starting with excavation, making the concrete forms and pouring the foundation. Then I move on to cutting, notching, and preparing the posts, beams, ties, and rafters. Followed by the assembly of the post and beam frame. Then I cut and install the twin wall polycarbonate glazing and install it on the walls and roof. There’s also some custom cedar louvered vents and a fan for air circulation. Then I build and install a light-weight cedar door and finish the construction with a two part ridge cap for the roof. There will be a four part detailed follow up video series after this. I have a 14 page greenhouse plan that’s available at the link below.

  1. Brilliant! I built a greenhouse in 2020 and youtube didn't have ANY well-explained How-To videos. I truly wish I had yours as a reference back then!

  2. It would be nice if it were say 15 X 20, but the one you built is very nicely constructed. It would be small for what we would need.
    Thanks for sharing.

  3. Good video. But wearing ear protection to run a cordless drill outdoors seems very, you know, "they/them".

  4. Really well explained, to the point and good work on the graphical art as well.

  5. This video alone made me insta-subscribe, so clean and professional. Congrats!

  6. Unreal build. I can see you've thought of all possibilities to make this as good as it can be.
The animation is fantastic and very clear to understand. Really impressed with your design and thought process with your projects in general. Can I just ask what programme you're using to sketch all your projects up?

  7. Great video! I really enjoy watching you build your projects and the excellent way you narrate them.
Question: Is the polycarbonate glazing stiff/ strong enough to prevent the door from sagging?

  8. where did you get the twin wall polycarbonate glazing and the J channel? thank you for your video 🙏
