#24 We put an IKEA Kitchen in Our Abandoned Italian Farmhouse – DIY Restoration & Renovation

We’re back with another video from the renovation of our abandoned Italian farmhouse.

In this episode – we build our own kitchen and then customise it with a custom paint colour. Ed’s brother cycles all the way from the UK to help with some decorating. We finally take the time to put together our living room and dining area. Plus our marble kitchen top arrives, and loads more stuff!!

We sold our apartment in Stockholm, packed up the car and headed for Piemonte. After a couple of months searching for the right house we came across Our Italian Dream House and immediately made an offer. Four weeks later (just three days before Christmas) we signed the contract and had the keys.

It’s now early 2022 and we have begun work on the epic renovation that stands before us. We are mortgage free and have a very limited budget so plan to take on as much of the renovation ourselves as possible – follow us on our journey as we turn an abandoned Italian farmhouse into our dream home.

  1. Is the wall-paint latex based? I've wondered how that works with plaster walls and breathability. Looking good!!

  4. Good to see you again! I really like the idea of continuing the green wall in the kitchen. Works really well with the white marble tops as light catcher.

  5. The kitchen looks great, I wish you luck on getting water and power sooner than later! Maybe if you did a lighter green in the living room you will achieve the feel you are going for?

  6. So good to see you again! Great teamwork ! Beautiful green color ! What is it call again ? Is it Farrow and Ball?

  7. Hi guys!! You're doing well and the progresses are fast. Good job! Amazing choice with the Carrara marble (I've done the table of the kitchen with it).
