Vertical farming is the practice of producing food and medicine in vertically stacked layers, vertically inclined surfaces and/or integrated in other structures (such as in a skyscraper, used warehouse, or shipping container). The modern ideas of vertical farming use indoor farming techniques and controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) technology, where many environmental factors can be controlled. These facilities utilize artificial control of light, environmental control (humidity, temperature, gases…) and fertigation. Some vertical farms use techniques similar to greenhouses, where natural sunlight can be augmented with artificial lighting and metal reflectors. Hydroponic systems can be lit by LEDs that mimic sunlight. Software can ensure that all the plants get the same amount of light, water and nutrients. Proper management means that no herbicides or pesticides are required.

  1. nice! I can't wait for fresh veggies from my plants this year. ripening peppers and tomatoes are right around the corner!

  2. Black Walnut trees produce Jugolone in roots and fruits and kill certain types of trees, mainly maples I think, some trees are resistant. kills some other types of plants too. I think beans / legumes help most other plants grow because of root nodules and helpful bacteria. Might try bringing some of my pepper plants inside that didn't grow too well from transfer shock and that sort of thing

  3. My wife is using 5 gallon buckets for potatoes. Fills it half way first and when tha potato plants get to be 7 inches taller than the bucket she fills the bucket with soil. Gets more potatoes that way from one plant.

  4. Nice information especially because my husband and I have been wanting to build a garden! Def looking forward to watching more videos👍🏽

  5. I agree with you and growing in pots. I have pepper plants that are 4 years old because I bring them in. I did have to transplant one to a bigger pot but it's worth it. I tell ya, I feel like they fruit more and more every year. Thanks for the great info and for the sub. You rock!

  6. Interesting information. I have to look into allelopathy. I grow stuff indoors in pots, mainly lettuce. I also like playing around with hydroponics indoors. I have six large containers that I grow lettuce and other greens in during the fall and winter. I have peppers in them now. Thanks for sharing you gardening methods. I will follow with interest.
