Channel Update And 2022 Year In Review!

Ok friends, we never do this and I avoid “update videos” like the plague, but here we go. Year 3 of the channel is ending off with a bang. There’s a few new things in the works and with 14+ inches of snow covering the entire garden, I thought this week’s iteration the perfect chance to update you all on what’s going on. Plus a number of people messaged me over the last week so it seemed like the right time!

We covered most of the dormancy and soil protection topics over November/December, but indoor stuff is growing like crazy so we’ll have tons of that content for January ready to go. New blogs should be ready for the website this week, but holiday craziness is super hard to predict, as you can imagine.

Stay safe you guys and have the happiest of holidays. Be kind to one another and let’s make sure 2023 is a better year! Thanks to you all for the support and feedback for one of the best gardening years I can remember!

Hey, for those that don’t know, the website is now live! Check it out here, there’s going to be some exciting new things happening!: https://theripetomatofarms.ca/

2022 is the Year of the Garden! We deserve it after the last little while, and growing our own food and self sufficiency is just the reward we need to get back on track!

  2. I’m so happy to subscribe and watch your video that I wouldn’t know how, where, when and what to do with the seeds and you were our savior in gardening and being self sufficient is very important at this time. Jeff, Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, wishing you and your family a happiest holidays and New Year’s ahead, and stay safe and healthy 🙏🏻🎄🌟☝️❤️👍👍

  3. Cheers for your videos!! Very hot today in Australia..Merry Christmas..🙂 Congrats on your growing channel success..

  4. I love your channel! I don't always get to watch right when they post, but I do get to them in a day or so. I can't even remember when I started watching you, but it's never gotten old. You are in my top three..Not in order, You, Veggie Boys and Kevin and Sarah – Living Traditions Homestead. The artic blast is moving in here, now…Central Fl to see mid 20's with teen wind chills…I know, you are used to that. We however, are not! My tomato plants are loaded, and so they have a heater and a fan…Hoping to get them through the next 3 days of below freezing temps. Merry Christmas Jeff and family. 🎄🎄

  5. Have a wonderful , peaceful and safe Christmas and new you Jeff. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiments with us.

  6. You are an amazing teacher. I have learned so much from your videos. I am always looking forward to learning as much as I can about gardening. Thank you ! Will be building a greenhouse with old windows in the Spring/Summer and equipping it with multiple heat and cooling sources. I enjoy gardening so much that I would love to do so all year. Currently researching the strongest way to roof the greenhouse so that it will hold a heavy load of snow and pitch it enough so the snow will slide down the roof when it gets heavy. It’s going to be so fun designing it.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season and a warm, happy, and healthy New Year. 9:39

  7. I learned a lot watching your videos. I especially like the ones on strawberries. I’m year 2 trying and still doing my best. I have not gotten the first berry…but I guess I’m a glutton for punishment. Several of my tower plants are flowering. Things are looking up. Changed varieties this year and planted bare roots. I really enjoy my tending the strawberries…part of which is getting me off my butt and doing something..thanks for being here for us..

  8. Thanks for everything this year! Your advice got my new greenhouse and 10 raised beds plus an entire bucket garden started for me this year. It was amazing. It was empowering. I grew things I had never grown on my own before. And it gave me a new confidence to do even better next year. I'm turning the whole yard into quite a farm and it seems somehow you were right there helping! I will always appreciate that support and encouragement, even from a thousand miles and a country away. Thank you!

  9. Jeff, I wanted to say congratulations on the growth and new direction you're going in….your knowledge is incredible, and your willingness to share -for free- shows your character and integrity.
A Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family!

  10. You do answer all ( or most of the comments and that isn't necessary but nice.I would think it would be difficult to give so many answers like you do.
I've heard some websites has a team to give replies.
I'm again mulching leaves grass clipping and garden waste early as possible in fall and that feeds the food web and worms that are pooping their body weight daily and that feeds my vegetables that I get to choose for my family
    Merry Christmas Jeff
Your audio is again spot on.

  11. Love your channel.

Do you need any help with the blog? I was a freelance writer and marketer for about ten years 🙃

  12. Thank you for all your efforts. I've learned so much from your vlogs and know I'll learn even more in the coming year.

  13. Thanks Jeff. I always learn something from your videos. Tonight I learned you do more than just the Garden Quickies! Who knew!? Now I can "dig" into more gardening content. Can't wait to get started! Good luck on your endeavors in the new year.

  15. Thanks for a great year of videos (its quickly become one of my most favorite channels) – all your tutorial videos were very helpful for me as a newbie gardener and someone who is keen to learn :D. Possibly the best and most informative videos on gardening imho. Merry Christmas and Happy new year from Australia :D. (PS: just curious – which plants do you find personally the most problematic to grow from seed?)

  16. Thanks for the year in review. It was a challenging year for me with the cold spring that didn't want to leave to the freak September frost. You have been a great help in my gardening journey. We are very fortunate to have you. Merry Christmas to you and your family. God bless you and all that are reading this. ❤️

  23. Happy Holidays, Jeff! I love your videos. They are among my favorite bc they are so real. It's about the gardening not putting on a show. I just realized that your style reminds me of the original Victory Garden tv show on PBS. Jim Crockett was a gentle soul who loved every aspect of growing. I guess you'd have to a million years old like me to remember him! Looking forward to your episodes in 2023 ❤️
