  1. Yes, I have sown some Ailsa Craig today and will sow some Sturon tomorrow. Your explanations are always very clear and well worth taking notice of.

  2. I tried a new technique this year with my onion seeds. Multsowed in to cells with multi purpose compost in the cell and the seeds in a layer of soil based seed compost topped with vermiculite as a cover.

  3. I'm very sceptical of "scientists" and their "findings" since c..v..d but some of them have shown that plants are sensate beings and communicate so they do probably encourage each other to grow. "Come on,you can make it,beat you to the top of the pot" etc. All good wishes for 2023.

  4. Great stuff did you manage to get all the fruits trees I remember you getting previously into the ground?

  5. Did you put the onion seed sown in the 24s in a stronger tray for extra support?and were they put in a propagator or just left to their own devices in a cold greenhouse.

  6. I did red baron today and I also did some spring onions, I've left them out in the greenhouse.

  7. I'll probably sow onions in the early spring here on PEI, zone 5b. But I did sow a tray of red wheat for sprouts or micro greens for my chickens today. Happy New Year, Sean.

  8. Hello Sean. I wonder if you could help me. I'm an absolute beginner to gardening. I live in NW Turkey so my growing season is longer than yours. I put in onion sets on 22nd November and they're up and looking healthy. If I plant onion seeds now will they mature at the same time as my sets? I want plenty of onions but don't really want to have to open an onion shop to get rid of the glut! Thanks. Best wishes Dave.

  9. I've not planted onions today as I planted my red onions and Senshyu onions late autumn Sean 👍

  10. I sow imy seed in early to mid February simply because I'm on sandy loam with a south facing aspect. I always have a good harvest in August. just a tip here: never sow sets in the Autumn because they are prone to running to seed (hard stalks). i learnt the hard way.

  11. Had my 2 grown up sons visiting yesterday with my first baby grandson so will plant some exhibition and Ailsa Craig onions today ,, already have senshui sets and seeds in the ground and spring onions ishikur, Lilia and white Lisbon in pots in the greenhouse ,,I do love my onions Sean,, hope 2023 is a good growing year for us plotters , best wishes, Lisa

  12. We had Christmas on boxing day. My husband just got off a 48 hour shift. It is too cold this year to be out even in the heated greenhouse. The heater can't keep up. Will have to wait to plant the onion's another week at least after this coldsnap damage is evaluated in the greenhouse.
