Kitchen Garden 2022 Mid-Summer Virtual Garden Tour | Aussie Dandenong Ranges Vegetable Patch Update

Two months ago I shared our Spring planting of our Kitchen Garden. Wander around the garden with me in this virtual garden tour, as I show you the progress over the past 2 months of plant growth.

It has been a tough year of vegetable growing in the vege patch, with the La Nina weather event having caused cooler than normal conditions, wet weather and even flooding in our garden. See how this has affected the plant growth in our vegetable patch in Southern Australia in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria.

It has been a tough year for Australian gardens, but things are starting to look good in the kitchen garden with the warmer weather now starting.

  1. Very envoyable tour. The angled reo over the bed as a support structure is cool. Isnt self seeding great. We have a large number of self-seeded pomegranites that we are going to pot up – nature provides 😀. The Korean chillies will be interesting to watch progress. Great that your swap group is active – sadly our regional community garden cooperative is a bit static and going further defeats the purpose a bit environmentally. Beautiful colour on your beetroot is it Bulls Blood? I must get into flowers but they have never been my thing – we rely on daisies and some roses to bring in pollenators generally but must give it a go.

  2. Brilliant tour!
I never even thought about growing Korean chillies!! What a great idea! We absolutely love our kimchi!
You sound exactly the same as me, "There's some seeds that I should collect but just haven't done it, yet" hahaha
I've also started growing more flowers in the veggie patch this year, there's so many that are edible, they help bring in the pollinators and they're gorgeous! They're such a bonus!
    Great video Rach! 😀

  3. The garden is starting to come to life and is looking amazing.
It was a slow start for us aswell. We’ll get some food from the garden at some point.
The flowers look so beautiful in the middle of the veggie patch. I’ve only ever put sunflowers but I think we’ll pop others into the patch next year.
Love the garden tools being used to keep the dog out. 😀
    Cheers Deb & Dan

  4. Great tour, thanks for sharing. It is good to see how vegetables develop when left to seed. And a bonus is living in the Dandenong Ranges.. beautiful area of Victoria

  5. Hey Rachel! We swaps for your beautiful eggs. You’ll love the Cape Gooseberries. My kids loved them when they were little. I don’t think the seeds I bought are viable unfortunately. Loved the tour. I need to do the same. Lots growing now we have some sunshine. 🙌

  6. I just subscribed and can't wait to see more videos, as we are in South Africa (the home of the Cape Gooseberry). You have a beautiful garden. Hope you have an amazing day. Laura
