Inspired by the vibrant colours and geometric lines of Italian homes in the 1960’s, the team at gon architects redesigned this small one bedroom apartment located in one of the busiest squares in Madrid. Previously featuring exposed timber and walls that both enclosed and darkened the space, gon architects demolished the interior walls, allowing the perimeter of the now open space to be lined with floor to ceiling cabinetry. This cabinetry contains the apartment’s kitchen, office, and storage space, as well as forming a unique wall that allows the bedroom to be either closed off, or opened up to the rest of the home. A projector within the bedroom ‘walls’ storage can be pointed into the living space or the bedroom as desired. Large, wide tiles make the home feel continuous leading to a wall sized door that opens directly onto the terrace and an outdoor bathtub, fully connecting the interior and exterior.

I love that! It’s so well put together! And it’s incredibly well lit! That shower and bathtub(?) outside are such a nice and unexpected touch.
The shower placement open like that isn’t something I’d ever consider but the rest of the apartment is stunning
i love these videos, one thing i'd like to make a point of, though, is that i would prefer to see a continuous shot going from one room to another to get to see better the disposition of the rooms and how they're connected to one another
What a fabulous use of space. (Imagine 2 bedrooms, all the while creating a home with great flow, functionality and spaciousness.) What a beautiful bright apartment. LOVE it! ❤️
I'd happily live in that apartment. I prefer small and cozy apartments and this one's totally it.
Disappointing: I think they took away the character and the appartment will soon look cheap and outdated
Fantástico. Tanto espaço tão bem planeado 👋👋👋👋👋
Very interesting project and very well thought of! I love the small details that only a few people will spot but that changes the entire space (the sink, the shelves, the step, the floor). The way the architect also played with the colors is amazing, keeping that continuous yellow space to the bathtub on the terrace. I hope to see more of them!
So lovely. It seems so comfortable. I adore the bold colours, I can see what he says about retro italian style, but its also nicely contemporary. I think its so important that people have unique spaces.. Its tempting to have a uniform minimalism with small spaces, but this one shows its possible to keep some uniqueness and thematic style as well ❤️ i love it
#Fabulouso😘
I would move in to this in a heartbeat. ALL that storage in that space? All that connectivity to the outside? Gorgeous!
Hiding this wooden beams is the dumbest…
He really knows what he’s doing. Small apartments can feel very big if you design it right
the before was way more stylish than the after. the after looks pale, lifeless and awfully boring
this apartment's colour scheme & angular shapes seem cold, harsh and uninviting to me. One of my least favourite.
I love these videos but in many ways the renovations aren't very practical. The old design had 2 bedrooms, this has one. When you come to resell that has an impact on price. No matter how well the renovation, some buyers just won't look at it if it only has 1 bedroom
I am amazed how well the limited space is used in this case. The bedroom seems small, maybe some niche or storage for books and recharging phones would be nice. Great Project!
Wow! Outstanding!
LOVE how functional all this is without compromising on little luxuries – SO MUCH storage, bathroom accessible from both spaces, guest bed, laundry in unit, outdoor terrace with shower and tub? Incredible!!
So nice! And I loved how the bedroom was tucked away like that. ❤
It looks nice, but at the same time there"s something strange and weird about the lay out, like the sofa facing nothing or that curtain to cover the bedroom….I don't see friends and family being able to chat facing each other…I think keeping the original bedroom with a window as a bedroom and the one they use now as a bedroom as a kitchen would have made possible to have a better living area facing the terrace.
0:37 that shown is not La puerta del sol, that is Plaza Mayor
Kinda missing the beautiful ceiling beams though.
hermoso
I am glad he became an architect despite the speech impediment.
Guy speaks like Aznar's wife. True madrilenian 😂😂😂 I was waiting for "cafe con leche en plaza mayor"
Love Love 💗 LOVE
Que maravilla ☺️✨
beautiful reconstruction, great design and use of materilas. the use of space is amazing! i love this apt!
Nice but idk that bed doesn't look like it can support much weight
I like the old one
Muy bonito. Ya es hora Arquitectos Españoles creen espacios pequeños como hogares. Gracias por el gran trabajo y bonita presentación del video.
