In today’s video I thought it would be fun to look back over this last year of my houseplant collection and react to last year’s best houseplants video. My favourite plants have changed a lot in the last year, as have my wishlist plants!

  1. I like these retrospectives to see how plants have progressed. Got my first yellow Bird of Paradise this summer and its doing very well. It's funny how attached we get to our plants. Happy New Year plant parents!

  2. I hope to grow some more plants on a moss pole. Some are now hanging like my brasil. Also like to let it climb.
Also i hope that my clarinurvium starts growing. Bought it with 4 leaves and it's my first anthurium. Thanks for your video"s, i love them all!!

  3. Something different I did enjoy watching before and after…Also sad for you to lose such beautiful plants but I guess we all do I wish they all did well but for me it seems like the plants that are said to be easy I lose and the hard ones do well for me ….not sure why…great video…Happy New Year

  4. Paused, goes onto Etsy, buys the cuttings that have been in my basket for over a month, comes back to watch the rest of the video πŸ˜‚ Not even sorry haha xx

  5. My favorites this year have been my peperomia hope, variegated string of hearts, Hawaiian spider plant that I grew from a cutting off Etsy, and my Alocasia black velvet corm(it finally has a leaf!).

  6. I'm proud to say that compared to 2021, the majority if not all of my plants this year were from Etsy, small independent plant shops and sellers or Ebay along with plant trades. The only two that I got from a bigger garden centre were on clearance and needed major rehab but are doing much better now. I've noticed I'm a lot more conscious of the plant choices I make and don't just go for a plant because I want it there and then, I'm more aware of how that plant needs to fit into my space and I'm okay with that. Also, congrats on the move and the new house!

  7. Your dubia is definitely the most beautiful one I've ever seen! You've got every right to be the proudest plant parent, before seeing yours I didn't even know those fenestrate 😲

  8. I'm and old house plant grower in the North West USA, im nw at watching your interesting videos , can you tell what formula of fertilizer do you use , your plants look healthy.

  9. Hi Claire, another great video. Just love ur new home.
Ur laughing at that moss pole I watched ur video of how to make them & made 1 too. It’s been bone dry after the 1st week πŸ˜‚

  10. BRANDIATIUM..IS VERY SIMULAR TO MY SILVER SCANDAPSIS!! (One side of leaf is more slender ).

  11. Your BOP is flawless! I love it too. I am drawn to plants with really big leaves but many of my favorites have small leaves like philodendron brasil, peperomia incana and rhaphidophora tetrasperma.
I'm not into "rare" plants, just what catches my eye.

  12. Oh Claire! looking at your string of pearls makes mine look absolutely pathetic. I had it hanging out in a tree (sub tropical climate)and it wasn’t being watered as it should have been, so I brought it back under the patio but it’s going to take YEARS to get to the fullness of yours. I think I’d be better off buying a new one to grow indoors.

  13. I’ve heard sometimes anthurium do better in cooler temperatures, maybe you try that work your regale.

  14. Is your show only about rare plants, because I do not have any, I don’t think. All my plants has been bought at big box stores, never ordered any plants, but nevertheless I love your show and will continue to look at it.😊

  15. I'm currently OBSESSED with my queen Anthurium too! I bought her for $40usd a month or two ago as a bottom cut with one tiny leaf, but I could tell from the thickness of the stem that it was a pretty mature plant before it was cut. Its third leaf just hardened off and it's a foot long 😭 I AM IN LOVE

  16. My wish for your New Year is that you will understand how wonderful your videos are. You're informative and entertaining. I feel like I'm having coffee with a friend. Just 2 years ago I was pressured to get a plant during lock down. I have about125 now and I love them all. They saved me and so did you!!!!

  17. This made me revisit an old plant wishlist. I cannot believe how many less common plants I listed and have acquired!! I listed Scindapsus trebuii Sumatra and Hoya broget. I have a massive sumatra and just ordered a polyneura broget yesterday πŸŽ‰

  18. Your channel has become a home for me. I felt in love with the plants only two months ago and I have learned so much from you. I enjoy your company and all the content. Thank you for all your work and may the next year be awesome for you and your plants!

  19. You’ve come such a long way! I’m a new ish watcher but I’ve been obsessed with plants for 5-6 years now and I think my favourite plant at the moment is Calathea goeppertia warscewiczii this year I got a little obsessed with all calatheas. But I do have to ask there is a plant I’m in love with that you have that’s under your tv it’s the dark green leaf with a philodendron kinda shape what is it?

  20. I’m new to plants and your channel. You’re videos are so helpful and appreciated. You’re adorable and a joy to watch and learn from…don’t be so hard on yourself 😊

  21. A great update of your beautiful plants, have a happy new year and will see you on 2023 πŸ‘

  22. I definitely go through phases with plants. I got my first houseplant when I was 7 years old, so it's been a few years. haha About 20 years ago, I had almost 300 African violets (plants, props, etc.), streptocarpus, and other gesneriads. As life got busier with two children, pets, etc., I lost interest and neglected them. For several years, I had mostly Thanksgiving cacti and phalaenopsis orchids. Then I started adding succulents, and for the last year I've been diversifying more. I try to stick to easier care plants and remind myself to not get too carried away. When the care needs become too overwhelming, it's not fun anymore and both the plants and I suffer for it. I also try to remind myself of exactly what you said: today's rare plants are tomorrow's common ones. So, someday I'll have hoya heuschkeliana variegata, but not today. πŸ™‚ Happy New Year, Claire! I enjoy watching your planty journey.

  23. Good luck in 2023! By the way how do you keep your dog away from all of your incredibly toxic plants? 🌿🌱🐢
