My family and I get to spend some private time at a Kominka villa inside the Murinan garden built in the 1890s – the entire 2nd-floor Tatami room was able to be rented out to visitors to enjoy the Japanese garden during the autumn season! It was a rather simple and modest building considering that it was built by the Prime Minister of Japan in the Meiji era. The focus was more on the garden and the Kominka was simply a front-row seat to enjoy the garden. I’m hoping to have my own Japanese garden in the rural areas of Japan one day…

I wonder how high the maintenance for one of these gardens is if you need to constantly trim them
Fantastic movie
I’ll continue uploading video like yours
Thank you so much for sharing
Such a peaceful location, with quite a bit of history attached! If you and the family make it to San Francisco, be sure to check out the Japanese Tea Garden.. the original exhibit was built in 1894, and uses some of the same design principles (creative planting/trimming to block noise/specific views). It was designed by Hagiwara Makoto, and Hagiwara-san and his family resided on the property until the 1942 internment occurred.
It's a beautiful example of design and architecture, even if it is a tourist spot now 🙂
Beautiful place…thanks Steven
The Nishi Hongwanji (Main temple of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism) is located in Kyoto. It has been many years since I was there (1980 ?) but I recall the gardens are very beautiful.
I didn’t like the tables either, but looks great
